Book Your Parent, Student & Teacher Feedback Meeting
Parent, Student and Teacher Feedback online Teams Meetings are scheduled with your child’s Semester One teachers for Thursday 24 July 2025 4.00pm to 7.30pm & Friday 25 July 2025 9.00am to 3.00pm (the Pupil Free Day). Please see the ATC App for a letter from the Dean of Learning for further details of the Feedback Meetings. Bookings for the Parent, Student and Teacher Feedback Meetings are via Parent Lounge and close at 6pm next Tuesday 22 July. Instructions on how to book an interview are available on the ATC App.
Year 11 2026 Careers Expo Wed 23 July at 5pm
Year 10 students and their parents and caregivers are invited to attend the Careers Expo in the Waterford Building (Level 2) from 5.00-6.00pm on Wednesday 23 July as part of the preparation for SET Plan meetings with their son’s mentor. This is a valuable opportunity for students and parents to gather information and speak to industry professionals and tertiary educators. Representatives from the following tertiary institutions will be attending the Expo: Australian Catholic University, Griffith University, Queensland University of Technology, TAFE Qld, The University of Queensland, University of Southern Queensland. In addition, employer representatives from the following industries will be in attendance: Architecture/Design, Australian Defence Force, Construction, Electrical industry, Engineering, Health & Fitness, Information Technology. Ms Liana Baillie and Ms Michelle Kath look forward to seeing all Year 10 students and parents at this important event.
Subject Selection Evenings
Our Subject Selection for Year 9 2025 into Year 10 2026 will be presented at a subject selection evening on Wednesday 23 July in the Nudgee Junior Hall at 5.00pm. Parents, caregivers, and students will be able to view the Subject Selection Handbook, which will assist you and your son in making the most appropriate selections prior to making choices and submitting your form. Web Preferences, the platform where students will enter their subject choices, will be available from 6pm Thursday 24 July 2025 and will close at 3pm Friday 8 August 2025.
Senior Education and Training (SET) Planning Meetings
Parents and caregivers of Year 10 2025 going into Year 11 2026 are required to book a SET Plan meeting with their son’s SET Plan mentor via Parent Lounge. These face-to-face meetings will commence on Monday 28 July 2025, Week 3 of Term 3, with you and your son to discuss his chosen subject selections and chosen pathways. Meetings have been scheduled at the College in 30-minute intervals at a variety of times. Subject selection will be entered by the SET Plan mentor at the time of your meeting.
Year 4 Hearing Screening Program
The Year 4 Hearing Screening Program run by UQ Health and Rehabilitation Clinics is scheduled for Thursday 7 August. The UQ Audiology team offer a free hearing screening program delivered to all school-aged kids. The screening will be performed by Master of Audiology Students under the direct supervision of a qualified Senior Audiologist. The team of audiologists will arrive from 9:15am and will be conducting these tests in one of the classrooms with support of ATC staff. If you do choose to have your son be involved in this testing he will only be absent from class for up to 15 minutes at some point during the day. Please complete and return the consent form and questionnaire on the ATC App to the College by Friday 1 August 2025.
Years 4-10 ICAS Exams English, Science and Mathematics
The College will run sessions for the annual ICAS English, Science and Maths exams for Years 4-10, on the dates and times below. To register for the ICAS exams you must visit their website to register you son/s and pay the fee online. The College cannot process payment or registration for students. Please refer to the letter on the ATC App from the Dean of Learning, for further details. Registrations close on Monday 28 July 2025 at 4:00 pm and late registrations are not accepted by ICAS.
EXCURSIONS
Year 9 Campbell, Nolan & Wynne Geography Excursion
On Friday 1 August Year 9 Campbell, Nolan and Wynne Geography students will be participating in an excursion to Boondall Wetlands and the Botanical Gardens, Mt Coot-tha. Arrive at school by 8.00am for bus departure at 8.15am from Middle Drop Off Zone and bus return time is 3pm. Students must bring a water Bottle (2 litres or 2 x water bottles) – with water, a daypack with sunscreen, morning tea, and Afternoon Tea, 2 lead pencils, an eraser, and a clipboard. Students can bring money to buy lunch. Please wear the ATC House Shirt/PE Uniform and jumper plus runners and ATC wide brimmed school hat or cap. Parents/Caregivers are requested to access Parent Lounge to accept the event to show their son is attending. Also please ensure your sons’ medical and emergency contact details are correct prior to the excursion. Please ensure at least one emergency contact is available for the duration of the excursion. Year 8 Bodkin & Conn / 8 Lynch and Treacy Geography Excursions
Geography students in Year 8 Bodkin and Conn will be participating in an excursion to Palm Beach Gold Coast on Thursday 7 August and Geography students in Year 8 Lynch and Treacy will travel on Friday 8 August. Students must arrive at school at 7.15am for bus departure at 7.30am from Middle Drop Off Zone. Return bus time is by 3pm. Year 9 and 10 Japanese Dinner
On Tuesday 5 August, we will be attending a Japanese Sukiyaki dinner at Oshin Restaurant in Brisbane City as part of our Year 9/10 Japanese language and cultural program. The aims of the activity are to provide students with an authentic cultural experience, deepen their understanding of traditional Japanese cuisine and dining etiquette, and encourage real-world language use through interaction with students from our sister school, Brigidine College. This excursion supports students in developing cultural competence, respectful social interaction, and a greater appreciation for Japanese customs. Destination is Oshin Japanese Restaurant 256 Adelaide St, Brisbane City on Tuesday 5 Augus. Departure is from Student reception, arrive by 16:45 and depart for Indooroopilly Train Station at 17:00 on foot. We will catch the train to the city, arriving at Central Station for dinner at 18:00. College Return Time is 20:30 at the Lower Bus Pick up zone. (Students cannot travel to and from the venue unaccompanied unless prior arrangements have been discussed with the teacher in charge) Cost is $25.00 and Parents must go to Parent Lounge to pay the $25.00 and accept the invitation for their son to attend. This is essential prior to the event. Extra requirements: Students should bring money for their return train trip or ensure their GoCard is topped up.
Year 7 Drama Incursion
The year 7 cohort will take part in a Drama Incursion at school on 23 July when Shock Therapy present "The Apology". Fueled with intensity, THE APOLOGY fuses physical theatre techniques, multiple role acting and live music into a visceral and dynamic piece of theatre. Inspired by a true story of a high school student who “took revenge” on a classmate who was bullying him after his father advised him to “fight back”, THE APOLOGY is a searingly honest look at the repercussions of taking revenge and the long-term effects.
CURRICULUM
Year 9 HPE
As part of the Year 9 Health and Physical Education (HPE) curriculum, in Term 3 we will begin our Respectful Relationships unit. This unit includes age-appropriate discussions surrounding key topics such as respectful relationships, consent, sexual health, contraception, and fertility. Our intention is not to promote particular behaviours, but rather to ensure students are equipped with credible and reliable information to help them make informed, respectful, and safe decisions as they navigate adolescence and beyond.
