Coming Up

It’s been a fantastic start to the term, and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my first week back. A highlight was our NAIDOC Week Assembly, headlined by Past Student and proud First Nations man, Owen Hedge. Owen delivered a powerful address, seamlessly weaving the College’s values into the aspirational themes of NAIDOC Week. This year marks the 50th anniversary of NAIDOC Week, and it was inspiring to see the legacy being passed to young leaders like Owen. Our Clontarf Academy students opened the assembly with an Acknowledgement of Country and shared their culture through music and dance.

On Friday, Year 4 engaged in creative and immersive activities presented by First Nations students as they shared stories of country, tasted Indigenous food and learnt dance and traditional painting methods.

Looking ahead, our Parent/Teacher/Student Feedback Meetings are scheduled for next Thursday after school and all-day Friday. These meetings are a valuable opportunity to reflect on academic progress, set shared goals, and learn more about your son’s Term 3 learning journey. All interviews will be held online via Microsoft Teams, with invitations sent directly to your calendar. Bookings close Tuesday, so please check the College App for details or contact the Learning Office if you have any questions. Please note that Friday is a pupil-free day, and College Reception will be open from 8am to 4pm.

On Tuesday evening, the Parents and Friends (P&F) Committee will meet at 6:30pm in the Waterford Auditorium. I encourage you to come along and get involved — the P&F has several exciting events planned, and your participation helps us continue to build a strong, connected community.

Subject selections are a key focus for the Learning Office this term. We kicked off with the Years 8 and 9 2026 Information Night last night. Next up is the Years 10 and 11 2026 Subject Selection Information Night and Careers Expo on Wednesday 23 July. The Careers Expo begins at 5:00pm in the Waterford Building, followed by subject selection and pathways information at 6:00pm. Year 11 2026 students have also received information about booking their Senior Education and Training (SET) Plan meetings. As always, please check the College App for updates. See below for further information on all these events in the LEARNING NEWS section.

We’re also excited for another big term of sport! This week we launched the inaugural ATC Athletics Carnival, held over Tuesday and Wednesday. It was two days of fantastic competition, energy, and house spirit. Congratulations to all students who participated, and a special shoutout to Leinster House for taking out the win!

Term Three sport training is underway, with our first trial matches happening this Saturday, 19 July. Please ensure you’ve checked the ATC App and subscribed to your relevant tags to stay up to date with schedules and team announcements. We’re also still looking for Year 5 and 6 tennis players to join our AIC teams — if interested, please email  the Sport Office.

The Year 5 cohort displayed outstanding teamwork, applying diligence and creativity to design innovative stalls that would captivate the interest of all Junior School students. Donate used Running shoes

The rate at which children’s feet grow means that they quickly outgrow their footwear. Running shoes are subsequently relegated to the back of a closet to collect dust. Year 9 student Lachlan, is collecting for ‘Shoes for Planet Earth’. We are looking for used running shoes that no longer serve a purpose in your household, so that they can be passed onto others who may not have the opportunity to purchase their own pair. This allows more people to experience the love of running as well as enjoying the many benefits of physical activity. Running shoes, trainers or football boots – if you no longer need them, we will take them off your hands! Please ensure that the running shoes are clean, have no holes, no missing soles and have their laces. Please bring your running shoes to the Faith and Mission office and Lachlan will happily collect them each Friday until the end of Term 3 and donate them all to ‘Shoes for the Planet Earth’.

FORMATION NEWS
Let's Chat

As part of our Formation program students in Years 6 will explore the topic Sexual Self in Term Three (July 14, 22 & 29). To assist in the delivery of this topic, the College acquires the services of Let's Chat Education which will deliver much of the content. It is important that children are given accurate, reliable and appropriate information and skills in a supportive environment, and the home is one of the best places for this education to occur. However, support from the school environment also is important.
