Term Three - a Time for Strength and Determination

A warm welcome to Term Three and I trust the mid-year break was enjoyable for all our students, staff and families. We look forward to a positive term and second half of the year.

As a Catholic School in the Edmund Rice tradition, we are proud of our relationship and partnership with the Clontarf Foundation and our current and past students and families who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Island people. We join communities throughout Australia in committing to recognition and reconciliation and in celebrating NAIDOC Week. Our College assembly this week will have a NAIDOC theme focus.

Year 12

Best wishes to our Year 12 students and families who commence their final semester of schooling after completing 24 including Prep! The second half of Year 12 is a busy time of engagement and transition. Our experience is that this can be an exciting and challenging time that looks different for different individuals. Please feel welcome to lean in to all key relationships at this important time including Class Teachers, Homeroom Teachers, Heads of House, the Learning Office Team, Kelly Gaunt, our Senior School Counsellor and Michelle Kath, our Head of Pathways if we can offer support and guidance. We look forward to continuing to work with and supporting our Year 12 students and wish them a positive semester.

Year 11 Leadership Process

In turn, this term sees our Year 11 students engage with their Leadership Retreat program and student leader selection process for 2026. We wish them the very best for this period of discernment and thank all staff and parents for their support of our 2026 Seniors as they engage in this important part of the process this Thursday and Friday.

ATC Past Student's Achievement

A huge congratulations to 2024 Past Student, Tyson Waugh, who was awarded the Barbara Sisley Award for the highest mark for his AMEB Certificate in Voice and Communication in Queensland. Tyson performed the poem 'Argument' by John Quinn at Parliament House late last term.

He is the second ATC student to receive this prestigious award following in the footsteps of Atticus Solomon (ATC2021). Tyson was taught for several years by Mrs Shapcott who is very proud of his achievements and his dedication to his Drama and Communication lessons and exams was exceptional. Congratulations to Tyson and Mrs Shapcott on this significant achievement.

InterHouse Athletics

We look forward to these fun and competitive days for our Year 4 to 7 and Years 8 to 12 students this week. Athletics remains a relatively new domain for us at ATC and we are gradually building our experience and skills across the year levels both at participation and competition levels. We look forward to these days and thank all staff who are involved in the organisation and facilitation of the days. May the best House win!

P&F Dad's Get Together

The ATC Parents & Friends have a new initiative this year being held on Saturday 16 August from 4.00pm to 7.30pm in the Waterford Precinct to bring our Dads and significant male carers together for some social time in the lead up to Father’s Day. Tickets are $20 for a beer and a burger. For NRL fans, the Broncos will be on the big screen. It would be great to have as many of our dads come along as possible! Thank you to the organising sub-committee of the P&F for this opportunity. CLICK HERE TO BOOK.

P&F Trivia Night

This popular event is scheduled for Saturday night 2 August and is always a fun evening. It would be wonderful to fill Nudgee Junior Hall with smiling faces, elaborate costumes and trivia sharp minds! Please book a table if you haven’t already, by going to your Parent Lounge account.

Term Three Music

Our musicians will be hard at work in the coming weeks preparing for the massive Queensland Catholic Music Festival to be held at Villanova College on 15-17 August. This signpost event is always greatly enjoyable and a genuine celebration of all our singers and instrumentalists across the year levels, our staff and family supporters.

Term Three Sport

There is a lot happening in Term 3 sport with Rugby League, Athletics, Basketball, Football, Tennis, Volleyball, Golf and Touch Football on the schedule. Best wishes to all who wear the blue, white and green this term, especially to our Year 12’s who represent us for a final time.

Community Prayers

Lord, we pray for those in our community who are suffering. Be with them in this time of hardship and uncertainty. Give comfort and peace to those who have lost loved ones. May their sorrow be turned into strength, and their distress turned into peace. May our hearts remain loving and pure as we seek to always be compassionate to those around us.

God Bless,

Chris Ryan
