Careers & Pathways

Every young person should be provided with the best possible opportunities to transition successfully from school to further education, training or employment.

At ATC, Years 8, 9 and 10 students participate in our “Skills and Pathways Program” which is included in our Formation Curriculum. This program assists students to develop the skills, strategies, sense of self-awareness and self-worth that will enable them to tackle the current and future challenges of the world of work with a sense of optimism and hope. Students develop an understanding of their own personal interests, strengths and abilities and relate these to career options, pathways, and the labour market. A Careers Bulletin is also published every month and contains up to date information about Careers, University course information, Open Days and industry insights.

The Skills and Pathways Program is tailored to meet the developmental stages of students at each year level. It is a student-centred approach that supports the value and purpose of an individual pathway plan. All pathway information is presented as valid and valued. This program is supported by opportunities for students to meet individually with the Head of Pathways to discuss their pathway and subject choices as they enter the Senior School. The Head of Pathways can also assist students with opportunities for work experience and school-based apprenticeships/traineeships. Year 12 students are particularly supported with their transition to post-Year 12 further study or employment.
