Coming Up Week 6

Dash for Crash 2025 – Join Us This Sunday!

I’m looking forward to seeing everyone bright and early this Sunday from 7am for the annual Dash for Crash fundraiser. Despite my better judgment, I’ll be tackling the 10 km run - but there are also 21km and 5km options available. It’s shaping up to be a beautiful autumn morning, and it’s not too late to get involved!

Whether you want to run, walk, or volunteer, there’s still time to register. You can also support the cause by making a donation via the link below. There’ll be a BBQ breakfast and a coffee van on site, so come along for a great morning out in support of the ATC Foundation. The Dash for Crash is a special event that celebrates the life of ATC parent Mr Damien McMeniman, and raises funds to provide a bursary for a future ATC student who may not otherwise have the opportunity to attend the College.

All the details, including registration and volunteer sign-up, are available below:

National Reconciliation Week (NRW) is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia. The National Reconciliation Week (NRW) 2025 theme, Bridging Now to Next, reflects the ongoing connection between past, present and future. Bridging Now to Next calls on all Australians to step forward together, to look ahead and continue the push forward as past lessons guide us.

State of Origin Beanie Day – Supporting Brain Cancer Research

State of Origin fever has hit ATC, and that means it’s time for students and staff to don their favourite beanies—all for a great cause. As part of our support for brain cancer research, we’ll be highlighting this important charity drive at our assembly on Tuesday.

Then on Wednesday, students are invited to wear their favourite beanie (I'll be proudly wearing my NSW Blues one!) and bring a cash donation to support the cause.

  • Here’s why your support matters:
  • Brain cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related death in Australians under 40, including children—making it one of the most devastating cancers affecting young lives.
  • Survival rates have barely improved in over 30 years, despite major advances in other cancer treatments.
  • Only 2% of federal cancer research funding goes to brain cancer, significantly slowing progress in treatment and discovery.
  • More than 1,800 Australians are diagnosed with brain cancer each year. For them and their families, better treatments could be life-changing.
  •  The average survival time is just 14 months. Your support helps fund vital research aimed at extending lives and improving outcomes.

Let’s come together as a community, show our team spirit, and make a real difference. Every beanie worn and every coin donated helps bring hope to those affected by brain cancer.

Year 6 Science

Year 6 scientists were mesmerised by the concepts presented at the Big Bang Science Workshop. Examining an electrical circuit and discovering how electricity comes from a power station to our homes captivated our young scientists. The visual demonstrations and small group activities offered boys the chance to build their own circuit and along the way they learnt about simple circuits, switches, lights, motors, conductors and insulators. There were also a series of circuits to build using a variety of alternative energy sources such as solar, wind and a hand crank. Another fantastic day of rigorous experiential learning, igniting the minds of our Junior School students!

RYDA Program - Year 11

RYDA is more than a program, it is a partnership that has become part of the College culture, providing our Year 11 students with the tools and understanding to see themselves as active, responsible road citizens; motivating them to create good habits and stay safe on the roads.

On Friday 30 May, our Year 11 students will participate in an engaging workshop, front loading students’ understanding of road safety. The workshops sessions are led by a team of Police, driving instructor and community sector experts.

How to Tie a Tie

Year 12s showed they are generous in sharing their expertise when they visited the Junior School to demonstrate HOW TO TIE A TIE! After nine years of wearing the ATC tie, our Seniors have introduced a new initiative - "Tie Tying Tuesday", to foster a connection with Year 4s. Under their expert tutelage, Year 4 seem well-prepared for the annual 'Tie Tying Contest' and have been seen practicing and perfecting their knot styles with the Seniors. Literally and figuratively, we are strengthening the bonds that tie our community together!
