As we prepare for the College Formal Photo day on Wednesday this week, one of our great traditions is the presenting of the Service, Learning and Leadership badges and House badges in Year 10. I was present at the Senior School ritual on Friday morning where the Year 10 students were presented with the badge of the Signum Fidei star which symbolizes Leadership and their House badges.
I was mightily impressed with the words of our four House Captains who spoke both about their pride in their House but also our collective pride in the College. Their words were exemplary and inspirational.
From our Year 4 students beginning the journey and receiving their badge, to our Year 7 fellows commencing the secondary school journey and receiving theirs and our Year 10 students who are accepting the responsibility of leadership in entering the Senior School, congratulations and best wishes.
Week 5 of Term 2
Amazingly, this Wednesday sees us reach the half way point of classes for the term. The long weekends are fantastic but they do have an impact on the rhythm of the term. Mid term is a great time to have a pit stop conversation with your son who may need to clean out his bag, clear his home work station, get a haircut, shine his shoes and evaluate what he has on for the coming weeks. Many a young male doesn’t do these resets naturally and your support and guidance in setting him up for success in the busy second half of the term is invaluable and relevant from Year 4 to Year 12!
Dash for Crash
We look forward to this annual event on Sunday and thank the McMeniman family for their partnership with the College and all who are involved. There remain opportunities to volunteer or participate as a walker or runner at the annual Dash for Crash which celebrates the life of ATC parent, Mr Damien McMeniman and raises funds for the College Foundation to provide a bursary for a future ATC student who otherwise may not be able to afford an ATC education. We’d love to see you this Sunday morning. Please feel welcome to participate.

Mothers in May
We look forward to gathering with many ATC Mums and significant female carers this Wednesday evening at the Riverside area directly behind the iconic Edmund Rice Building. Hopefully the weather will be kind to us and lovely time will be shared by all. Raffle tickets are still available in Parent Lounge and thank you to our sponsors for their generosity.
Second Hand Uniform Shop
Thank you to ATC mums Mel Kuflik and Sasha Tucker, for their generous work in facilitating this successful initiative. Thank you also for all families who have contributed used items in support of other families. Your generosity is greatly appreciated. This event was a massive success thanks to your generosity and Mel and Sasha’s leadership and co-ordination. The Parents and Friends group will liaise with the College about how these funds might be used this year. As previously shared, the P and F kindly assisted with the purchase of a new flexible stage that is used weekly at assemblies and has been a most welcome new resource this year.
Year 8 Social Event with Brigidine College
One of our strategic intentions amongst many is connection for our students with local schools for young women, Brigidine College, Stuartholme School and St Aidan’s College. Our music community recently enjoyed another wonderful collaboration with St Aidan’s and as a part of our numerous points of partnership and friendship with Brigidine, we hosted a Year 8 social afternoon on Friday which was most popular and enjoyed. Without stereotyping, it is fair to say that these face to face interpersonal interactions are somewhat less common for some young people than they were in the past and supporting this in a safe and low risk environment is a very positive thing.
Thank you to our Formation Team and our wonderful staff for their leadership and facilitation for a very successful event. Our intention is to continue our warmly welcomed dialogues with Brigidine, Stuartholme and Brigidine as we develop further opportunities in the coming months and years.
Community Prayers
The ATC community extends its heartfelt condolences to the Howard family on the recent passing of Mr Ross Howard, much loved husband and father. Our prayers of support go to Belinda, William in Year 12 and their family, extended family and friends. May Ross Rest in Peace and May Perpetual Light Shine Upon him.
Lord, we pray for those in our community who are suffering. Be with them in this time of hardship and uncertainty. Give comfort and peace to those who have lost loved ones. May their sorrow be turned into strength, and their distress turned into peace. May our hearts remain loving and pure as we seek to always be compassionate to those around us.
God Bless,
Chris Ryan
