Library News
Book lovers in Year 4 and 5 were under the spell of acclaimed author Trent Jamieson as he captivated them with his unique book characters from the graphic novel, 'Frog, Log, and Dave: Almost Save the Day'. [with Brent Wilson] Students were treated to a reading from their popular book, 'Mr Impoppable', and were inspired by Trent’s entertaining insights into the world of storytelling. In anticipation of the meeting, many boys had their pre-purchased books and had the author sign their copy, creating a memorable literary experience. Thank you to Where the Wild Things Are Bookshop for an amazing collaboration and we look forward to sharing more literary fun with them next week!
FAITH AND MISSION
Senior House Masses
As a Catholic school in the Edmund Rice tradition, we are committed to walking in the footsteps of Jesus by living out his message of compassion, justice and service in all we do. One meaningful way we express this faith is through the celebration of Mass – a sacred time for our community to come together, listen to scripture, give thanks and be united in the Eucharist, the heart of our Catholic faith and life. We are excited to once again invite parents to join us for the House masses. See more information below:
Our Ulster Senior House Mass (for students and parents of Years 10, 11 and 12 Ulster) will be celebrated on Tuesday 27 May at 8.35 am in The Chapel of St Joseph, Level 1 Edmund Rice Building. Students are to wear their formal uniform including College suitcoat and tie. Normal classes will resume following Mass. We also invite parents of the Senior Connacht House members to attend the Mass. If you are able to join us, please proceed to the Chapel via College Reception or your son can guide you to the Chapel.
Our Connacht Senior House Mass (for students and parents of Years 10, 11 and 12 Connacht) will be celebrated on Friday 23 May at 8.35 am in The Chapel of St Joseph, Level 1 Edmund Rice Building. Students are to wear their formal uniform including College suitcoat and tie. Normal classes will resume following Mass. Year 7 Retreat
By creating memorable moments together we are shaping a supportive and inclusive environment for our Year 7s. Their recent Retreat Day was filled with activities to foster connection, reflection, and growth, as boys were immersed in the theme of “Who Do We Want to Be?”. Inspired by the messages in John’s gospel to love one another through the servant leadership and stories of hope from Roby Curtis the coordinator of @Emmanuel City Mission students brought donations of essential items for those living on the margins. Relevant and relational activities on the day included the "Boys to Men" panel, where Year 11 students shared their experiences and wisdom, and interactive sessions like "The Web That Connects Us" and "Magic Hat." Students had valuable time to reflect on their journey, brainstorm about their collective identity, and enjoy a delicious BBQ lunch. The Retreat concluded with a powerful debrief and a statement of unity, reinforcing the values of courage, faith, and community. A big thank you to Roby for sharing his commitment to those experiencing homelessness, offering the shelter, food and care needed at @Emmanuel City Mission. Also gratitude for the staff and Year 11 students who made this day possible.

FORMATION
Badge Ceremony
This week we hosted the Junior School Badge Ceremony, marking the first day of wearing the ATC Formal uniform for 2025. The Year 6 Student Representative Council presented the Book Badge and the College Crest Badge to our newest members of our community, symbolizing our commitment to learning and academic excellence. Students will proudly wear the badges on their suit coats. Leadership is a very important aspect of school life at ATC which begins in Year 4. Our Year 6 Leaders take on various responsibilities, such as leading Junior School assemblies, assisting in Interhouse competitions as they endeavour to embody our College motto, #SignumFidei - 'A Sign of Faith.' They serve as role models, inspiring their peers and demonstrating the core values of our College.
MUSIC
Workshops, rehearsals and combined talent were the ingredients for a special evening of music at ATC with St Aidan's Anglican Girls' School. Now in its fourth year, the collaboration with St Aidan’s Choir and Band was again a huge success. ATC Senior Singers shone with their performance of ‘Whenever the Wind Is High’ but it was the combined orchestra performance of ‘How to Train Your Dragon’ that wowed the crowd! It was a privilege to showcase the performances in front of an audience of family and friends. Thank you for a great evening St Aidan's, and we look forward to doing it all again in 2026!
