Welcome back to the final term of the year.
It’s a joyous time as we approach the season of Advent and those long summer days with family and friends. Term 4 is always action-packed, and this year is no exception. With just nine weeks ahead, I encourage everyone to stay up to date via the College App.
Key Dates for the Diary
Here are a few important events coming up in the next couple of weeks:
Arts Festival
Running over the next two weeks, the Arts Festival is a celebration of student creativity across art, music, and drama. It’s a vibrant showcase of talent and inspiration, and there’s something for everyone.
Signature Event: Jazz by the River
This year’s Jazz by the River doubles as a celebration of our 10-Year Anniversary. The lineup features student bands and the inaugural performance of our Past Students Band. Expect a fantastic evening of music, community, and celebration. A retrospective photo display of our 10-year journey will also be on show.

ARTery Opening – Wednesday 15 October
Held in NJ Hall, this warm community evening features an art show and live performances. The creativity of our students never ceases to amaze me. The art show will remain on display during Jazz by the River.
Actors Studio – ‘The Outsiders’
Performing over two nights, this production is a highlight of the Festival. Last year’s show was a standout, and I’m eagerly anticipating this year’s performance.
If you love art, music, or drama – or all three – come along and bring a friend to celebrate what’s great about the Arts at ATC.
AIC Track and Field
Our Athletics Team competed in the AIC Track and Field Championships at QSAC this week. The carnival is still underway at the time of writing. For updates and results, visit:

St Vinnies Spring Clean to Aid our Year 10 St Vincent de Formal
Our Year 10 will be having their St Vincent de Formal on Thursday 30 October and part of the fun and challenge of this evening is recycling pre-loved clothes for the event. Historically, Vinnies create a pop-up shop here at ATC so the boys can find a suitable outfit but this year they are unable to do this due to low stock of boys and men's clothing. We are therefore, calling on families to please donate clothing that no longer fits or is used that would be suitable for a fun social evening our Year 10s will host with the students from Brigidine College.
Student tickets, which include a donation to Vinnies, will include the opportunity to find an outfit at a Suitcase Rummage we will be running on campus at the beginning of Week 3. All excess clothing will be donated directly to Vinnies following this. Please over the holidays can you do a Spring Clean to find some donations. They will be dropped at the library and Mission office in the first two weeks of Term Four.
KEY DATES

LEARNING NEWS
Digital Design Technology
Year 9 Digital Technology students have been learning about web design using languages such as HTML and CSS. In Term Four, they will create a professional website for a mountaineering club.
Building and Construction
Year 9 Building and Construction students were very busy bees at the end of term, learning about timber techniques including finger jointing, and how to safely use tools and equipment such as saws, planers, chisels and angles. Students have also learnt about quoting jobs by planning out the costings of materials. Term 4 sees the boys refine their beehive piece of work and prepare it to be submitted for assessment.
FAITH AND MISSION
ATC Goes Pink for Breast Cancer Research | Friday 17 October
Each year ATC show its support for the important work of the National Breast Cancer Foundation by wearing vibrant shades of pink in support of this cause on Friday 17 October and having a guest speaker on assembly.
On Friday 17 October we will hold our ATC Goes Pink for Breast Cancer Day and the students are encouraged to wear pink, bring a Gold Coin donation to homeroom and ‘Become A Zero Hero’ – Stop Deaths from Breast Cancer. We encourage breast cancer awareness on this day to highlight that a significant number of Australians are diagnosed every day with this disease. Please support this important initiative, increasing awareness of the impact Breast Cancer has on our community.
FORMATION
Funky Sock Donations for Year 12s
Each year, our Year 4s offer moral support to the Year 12s as they enter their final External Exam period. It’s become a tradition that Year 4s give a pair of funky socks to a Year 12 student and write an inspirational message to them. We ask that if you are able to donate one or two pairs of colourful, funky socks, please send them to your son's homeroom teacher by the Friday 10 October. This is entirely voluntary and you are not obligated to donate. Boys will write an inspirational message in their classrooms.
ADF Long Tan Youth Leadership
The ADF Long Tan Youth Leadership and Teamwork Award recognises students who have demonstrated leadership qualities and values such as ‘mateship’, respect, humility and contribution to community. These are also characteristics that are integral to Australian society. We proudly acknowledge Year 10 student Cooper Beaumont and Year 12 student Hayden Wessling for their exceptional contribution to the ATC community and for the courageous way they live as a Signum Fidei.
Ampol Best All Rounder Award
The Ampol Best All Rounder Award provides the opportunity for ATC to acknowledge a Senior who has made an exceptional contribution both in and out of the classroom. The award recognises qualities that include leadership, service and community, sport, arts and culture, attitude and personal conduct. We warmly congratulate Mitchell Cross for his authentic presence at ATC, for his unconditional positive regard for others, and for the character he shows in everything he does.
