Term 3 has a rhythm like no other. It’s a time of duality—immersing ourselves in the richness of the present while planning for the future. As we look ahead to 2026, I want to thank our families, students, and staff for contributing to a vibrant term filled with learning, leadership, service, and a wide array of events and opportunities at ATC.
To our parents: thank you for your tireless support of your sons. The partnership we share is the foundation of everything we do. I also extend my gratitude to our dedicated teachers, support staff, coaches, tutors, and volunteers who make both the classroom and co-curricular life at ATC thrive. And to our students—thank you. You have truly embodied the spirit of being stronger together this term.
As we approach the holidays, I wish everyone a well-earned rest. Term 4 brings with it many celebrations and rituals that mark the conclusion of the school year, and I look forward to sharing those moments with you.
But we’re not quite there yet. Next week is a crucial time for examinations, assessments, and feedback. I encourage all students to maintain their academic discipline right through to Friday 19 September. In particular, I urge our Year 12 students to re-engage following their Mock Exam block.
Edmund Rice Global Youth Leadership Program (ERGYLP)
We are thrilled to welcome international guests from the Edmund Rice Beyond Borders Global Youth Leadership Program from Thursday 18 September to Wednesday 24 September. Twenty students and 4 staff members from Edmund Rice schools in India, South Africa and Uruguay, will be joining us at ATC. They are from St John’s CBC, South Africa; St Vincent’s High School, India and Stella Maris College, Uruguay. Fourteen ATC Students are joining the program focused on young people leading with an Edmund Rice focus towards service and responding to the needs in our communities and our world. We are so delighted they will join us for a day in the life of ATC on Friday 19 September. A heartfelt thank you to our Faith and Mission team, Edmund Rice Beyond Borders and to the many staff and student volunteers who have made this experience possible.
Year 4 Mass
Today, our youngest students celebrated Mass with College Chaplain Father John Gillen. This is a special time for students to connect with the Good News of Jesus and reflect on what it means to be Signum Fidei—a Sign of Faith—at ATC. The Edmund Rice Touchstones of Liberating Education, Justice and Solidarity, Inclusive Community, and Gospel Spirituality, along with our Pillars of Learning, Leadership, and Service, are all grounded in His message of love, forgiveness, dignity, and right relationships. These opportunities to celebrate Mass continue to shape our shared experience at ATC.
St Vinnies Spring Clean to Aid our Year 10 St Vincent de Formal
Our Year 10 will be having their St Vincent de Formal on Thursday 30 October and part of the fun and challenge of this evening is recycling pre-loved clothes for the event. Historically, Vinnies create a pop-up shop here at ATC so the boys can find a suitable outfit but this year they are unable to do this due to low stock of boys and men's clothing. We are therefore, calling on families to please donate clothing that no longer fits or is used that would be suitable for a fun social evening our Year 10s will host with the students from Brigidine College.
Student tickets, which include a donation to Vinnies, will include the opportunity to find an outfit at a Suitcase Rummage we will be running on campus at the beginning of Week 3. All excess clothing will be donated directly to Vinnies following this. Please over the holidays can you do a Spring Clean to find some donations. They will be dropped at the library and Mission office in the first two weeks of Term Four.

Congratulations to every student who stepped up to the challenge! What an incredible showcase of young enterprise!
FORMATION
Funky Sock Donations for Year 12s
Each year, our Year 4s offer moral support to the Year 12s as they enter their final External Exam period. It’s become a tradition that Year 4s give a pair of funky socks to a Year 12 student and write an inspirational message to them. We ask that if you are able to donate one or two pairs of colourful, funky socks, please send them to your son's homeroom teacher by the Friday 10 October. This is entirely voluntary and you are not obligated to donate. Boys will write an inspirational message in their classrooms.
SERVICE
Service Opportunity – STEPtember
ATC students across all ages are invited to take part in STEPtember; an initiative that raises funds to “make life-changing impacts for those living with cerebral palsy”. This is a fantastic way of supporting others and getting your daily dose of physical activity. Students who successfully complete STEPtember will be able to log 8 service hours.
During September, you will track 10,000 steps a day, your way. You can convert more than 40 activities into steps including swimming, cycling, or riding your bike.
Step up for these benefits:
Get a month-long boost. Move your body to improve your health, lower your stress or kickstart your fitness routine.
Raise funds. Every dollar you raise supports the early detection and therapy for babies with cerebral palsy.
Ready to step up? sign up here: https://www.steptember.org.au/join-ambrosetreacycollege.
Stay tuned for more details. Until then, get ready to step up for a month of feel-good fitness.
*Service Hours may be logged prior to the completion of STEPtember so that hours can be attributed to 2025 totals.
FAQ’s
How do I count my steps?
Outside of school mobile phones will have apps that can keep track for you. During school, an estimation of your steps will be sufficient.
Does my swimming/running/cycling/yoga/vacuuming count as steps?
Yes! On the STEPtember website you will find a conversion chart for many of the day-to-day activities that you already do. You may find that you already do 10,000+ every day!
How much money do I need to raise?
Fundraising amounts will not be monitored and so students are free to fundraise as much or as little as they are able to.
How do I fundraise?
That is entirely up to you. The website has some great ideas, but please note any fundraising must be done outside of the school. Fundraising is not required to participate in this challenge for awareness.

Last Chance to Log Service Hours for 2025
The cut-off date for students to log their service hours for 2025 is Thursday, 19 September. Any hours recorded after this date will be carried forward and count towards the 2026 totals.
To have service hours formally recognised, students should either:
We encourage all ATC students to take the time to record their hours before the deadline. By doing so, they not only ensure their efforts are celebrated but also add to the strong tradition of service that lies at the heart of Ambrose Treacy College. Together, through Service, Learning and Leadership, we continue to live out the Edmund Rice vision of making a difference in the lives of others.
At Ambrose Treacy College, we proudly stand on three core pillars — Service, Learning and Leadership — which shape the way our young people grow, lead and contribute to the world around them. Inspired by the Edmund Rice ethos, service is more than just volunteering; it is an opportunity to live out the values of compassion, justice and generosity, and to place the needs of others before our own.
Service at ATC takes many forms. Whether it is supporting College initiatives, lending a hand to community projects, fundraising for important causes, or quietly helping those in need, every act of service reflects the spirit of giving that defines our community. Each year, it is inspiring to see how students embrace this call and make a genuine difference both within and beyond the College gates.
To ensure that this commitment is recognised, students’ contributions will be acknowledged at the End of Year Service Assembly and celebrated at our annual Night of Excellence. These occasions allow us to highlight not only the number of hours completed but, more importantly, the impact those actions have had on others.

Football - ATC vs Past Students
It was great to see so many of our past students back at the College last Saturday for the annual 1st XI vs Past Students XI football match on Jack Bowers. In a close and tough contest, our Past Students got revenge after their defeat last year with a tough 2-0 win to reclaim the trophy.
SPORT
Rugby League
How good is Rugby League! Round 6 was a pretty special day for ATC Rugby League. Our program celebrated an overall winning day, finishing with 4 wins from 7 matches – an incredible achievement and a sign of how far we have come in just our second season competing in the AIC Rugby League competition.
It was incredible to watch the performances on the field, but even more special to witness the Father’s Day tunnels and post-game father son photos. Seeing our dads and father-figures out there supporting their sons created a moment that will be remembered for a long time. A huge thank you to our families and coaches for helping bring this initiative to life.
There were countless highlights throughout the day as our ATC men continued to rep the blue, green and white with pride. The 5A’s kicked off the day in style, securing a strong 40 to 16 win, their second win on the trot. The 10A’s once again showed their immense potential with a hard-fought 26 to 16 victory. Our First XIII also had a win over Iona College, storming home with a special 26 to 16 win in front of a loud Bowers crowd. Closing out the day, the mighty 8A’s put on a clinic, running away with a 52 to 10 win to seal a winning season for the group.
This week, is the final dance for 2025! We take on St Laurence's College at OUR home. Get down to Jack Bowers Oval, cheer on the boys and witness history. C'mon ATC!
Basketball
Our 1st V made history last Saturday, recording their first win over the Past Students in a hard-fought battle. In front of a strong crowd, the boys showed grit and composure to secure a 45–37 victory. A proud achievement for the team to get one over their peers that have helped shape the ATC Basketball Program in what was a great hit-out to best prepare our 1st V for their upcoming CBSQ Tournament.
