Year 4 Hearing Tests by UQ Audiology
The Year 4 Hearing Screening Program run by UQ Health and Rehabilitation Clinics is scheduled for Thursday 7 August 2025. The UQ Audiology team offer a free hearing screening program delivered to all school-aged kids. Research indicates that hearing difficulties may have a significant effect on a child’s ability to learn. Children with a hearing loss may experience speech and language delays, educational difficulties, behavioural problems and often require increased educational support. A child’s hearing may change over time, so it is important to monitor your child’s hearing even if they have passed a previous hearing test. The screening will be performed by Master of Audiology Students under the direct supervision of a qualified Senior Audiologist. The team of audiologists will arrive from 9:15am and will be conducting these tests in one of the classrooms with support of ATC staff. If you do choose to have your son, be involved in this testing, he will only be absent from class for up to 15 minutes at some point during the day. Please complete and return the attached consent form and questionnaire to the College by Friday 1 August 2025. Full details are on the ATC app. A summary of the results will be sent home with your child in the form of a booklet with recommendations based on the results obtained. These recommendations could include further testing at the UQ Health & Rehabilitation Audiology Clinic or similar clinic, or a referral to a General Practitioner for medical intervention.

SERVICE NEWS
Donate used Running shoes
The rate at which children’s feet grow means that they quickly outgrow their footwear. Running shoes are subsequently relegated to the back of a closet to collect dust. Year 9 student Lachlan, is collecting for ‘Shoes for Planet Earth’. We are looking for used running shoes that no longer serve a purpose in your household, so that they can be passed onto others who may not have the opportunity to purchase their own pair. This allows more people to experience the love of running as well as enjoying the many benefits of physical activity. Running shoes, trainers or football boots – if you no longer need them, we will take them off your hands! Please ensure that the running shoes are clean, have no holes, no missing soles and have their laces. Please bring your running shoes to the Faith and Mission office and Lachlan will happily collect them each Friday until the end of Term 3 and donate them all to ‘Shoes for the Planet Earth’.
