Next week selected Year 9 Student Representative Council and Year 9 Clontarf Academy students will participate in an immersion experience, travelling to Cherbourg. There, students will tour the Ration Shed Museum and visit Barambah Primary School (also a Clontarf Academy School), gaining insight into local history and culture.
The journey continues to the Bunya Mountains, where students will take part in a traditional smoking ceremony, enjoy stargazing around a campfire, and share a meal at a local café. The following morning begins with a sunrise meditation, followed by a guided rainforest walk led by Aboriginal rangers. That evening, students will engage in a First Nations simulation activity designed to deepen cultural understanding.
This immersion is a formative experience for our Year 9 students, helping shape them as future leaders within the ATC community. It fosters empathy, advocacy for dignity and justice, and a compassionate heart—values that align with the principles of liberating education in the Edmund Rice tradition.

LEARNING NEWS
The annual ATC and Brigidine Junior School Mathematics Team Challenge was a vibrant celebration of problem-solving, collaboration, and the enduring partnership between our two schools. Students worked in teams to tackle a series of challenging mathematical tasks, demonstrating not only sharp thinking but also the power of teamwork under pressure. The final relay event brought the energy to a thrilling crescendo, requiring speed, precision, and seamless coordination. In a dramatic and close finish, ATC Team 6—Taaj, Adrian, Bernie, Joshua, Charlie and Thomas, —claimed victory. A huge congratulations to all teams for their determination, perseverance, and good spirit throughout the day. We look forward to the 2026 Maths Teams Challenge Day!
Design Department
Automata toys have traditional hand-powered mechanisms that create rhythmic movement, and our Year 9 Design class got things rolling with their detailed, dynamic wooden toys. There was an array of characters made including planes, horses and an ingenious full working V8 engine piston block! This unit challenges students with complex processes and new skills, but boys showed tenacity working towards their goal. The result was some very magical and whimsical pieces! Future industrial designers in the making!
