Year 8 Social – A Day of Connection, Confidence, and Celebration

With the goal of building respectful relationships and fostering connection between students from Ambrose Treacy College and Brigidine College, the recent Year 8 Social was a heart-warming success—full of growth, laughter, and unforgettable memories.

For many students, the day began with nervous anticipation. Walking into a new space and meeting peers from another school can feel daunting. But as the afternoon unfolded, those nerves quickly gave way to excitement, energy, and connection.

From the moment the Brigidine students were welcomed into the ATC space, the atmosphere was one of inclusion and positivity. Students were divided into two groups and rotated through fun and engaging activities—Dancing and Icebreakers/Drama Games—designed to help them break the ice and enjoy some light-hearted interaction. The Respectful Relationships workshop that followed offered a meaningful space for reflection and dialogue, reinforcing the importance of kindness, empathy, and mutual respect.

The social continued with a shared afternoon tea (complete with plenty of pizza!) and a fun-filled Trivia event that had students laughing, collaborating, and cheering each other on.

Throughout the afternoon, staff were impressed by the students’ excellent level of engagement, their respectful behaviour, and their willingness to step out of their comfort zones. As the event came to a close, the smiles on their faces told the story: students left with new friendships, a sense of pride, and a shared hope for future collaboration between the two schools.

Thank you to all staff and students who helped make this event so memorable. We look forward to building on this success and deepening the partnership between our communities.
