Our Krispy Kreme fundraiser, proudly led by our Year 7 and 9 SRC students, was an incredible success. Inspired to make a difference, the students worked to support the Edmund Rice Foundation and raised an amazing $2000. The Foundation is committed to working with communities around the world to provide access to education, health care and assistance to those who are in need.
Year 7 and 9 students recently learned about the extraordinary work of the Edmund Rice Foundation and had the privilege to hear from Karanja, from the Ruben Centre - an Edmund Rice school in the slums of Kenya with over 3000 students. Karanja shared his remarkable story of resilience: as a 5-year-old, he walked over three hours each day to reach school, lived in a hut with no running water, and survived on maize as his main meal. He reminded our students that education was his “ticket” to a better life—a powerful message that brought home the impact of our College’s support of the @EdmundRiceFoundation. Life-changing stories like Karanja’s show the incredible difference education can make. As the Foundation affirms “Education is one of the most powerful ways to alleviate poverty and empower communities”.
Following this presentation, it was great to see our students swing into action to support and fundraise for the foundation!
We thank our ATC community for their generosity and support – your contribution will help give the gift of education so students can attend the Ruben Centre.
