Ready to Take the Stage!

The Arts in our society and within our schools, both in the classroom and beyond, are vital. Whether it be visual art, drama and theatre, music or dance; Arts education is imperative.

Holistic education that offers opportunity for expression, critical and analytical thought, creativity, collaboration and meaning making is vital for our wider society, communities and therefore, in the formation of young people for our world.

For better or worse, rapid technological advancement would appear inevitable and is influencing and impacting the Arts and related industries. However, the profoundly human experience of song, melody, form, character, movement, voice and connection, while perhaps enhanced by technology in some cases, simply cannot be replaced by these advancements.

The Queensland Catholic Music Festival being held at Villanova College later this week and over the weekend, is the largest of its type in the southern hemisphere. We have a large contingent of ATC students performing and participating and I am always immensely proud of our musicians, our music staff and our supportive parent community at this event. It is a magnificent occasion that is inclusive of beginners through to our most advanced and experienced students.

We wish the ATC Music community a wonderful QCMF and give thanks for these talented and dedicated young people who bring the Arts to life at ATC.

Please find our program below and feel welcome to come along to Villanova College to share in their gifts.

Signum Fidei Breakfast

Congratulations to our recipients of this humble but important recognition of their contribution to our pillars of Service, Learning and Leadership in modelling our College motto, Signum Fidei, A Sign of Faith.

The symbol of the star that sits within our College crest is an image rich in theological meaning and comes from the Book of Daniel where it is proclaimed that “those who instruct justice unto many will shine like the stars forever”. Thank you to our students who lead by example in their daily actions.

Saint Mary of the Cross - Mary MacKillop

An inspiring morning at St Stephen's Cathedral was enjoyed last week by our nine students who joined representatives from schools across Brisbane to celebrate the Solemnity of St Mary of the Cross MacKillop Mass. As Australia's first canonised Saint and Patron of our Archdiocese, St Mary MacKillop continues to guide us in faith.
