Last night’s Formal Music Concert at Riverlife Church was a truly memorable occasion—one that even surpassed the outstanding performances I recently attended at the QLD Catholic School Music Festival. This well-attended event was a shining example of how ATC fosters both community and opportunity. Our music program continues to be one of the jewels in the ATC crown.
The evening featured a rich variety of performances, including choral, ensemble, band, and orchestral pieces by students from Year 4 to Year 12. Families and friends were rightly proud of the boys, and I extend my heartfelt congratulations to all the performers. A special thank you goes to the parents who support early morning rehearsals and so much more behind the scenes. This program would not be possible without the dedication of the ATC Music Team, led by Mr Bolt—we deeply value all that you do for our students.

Celebrating 150 years of Christian Brothers’ faithful service in the Edmund Rice Tradition
Ambrose Treacy College was proud to host a special breakfast celebrating 150 years of Christian Brothers’ faithful service in the Edmund Rice Tradition. It was a privilege to gather with over 100 representatives from Edmund Rice schools, the Christian Brothers, and our ATC community to mark this significant milestone together. We were honoured to welcome Mr Roby Curtis, founder of @emmanuelcitymission who shared his inspiring story and invited us to reflect on what Edmund Rice might see if “he looked out the window” today. Roby shared about how he draws inspiration and encouragement from his faith to continue his work alongside those who are experiencing homelessness and often the reality of very complex and traumatic events occurring in their lives. He connected with the students, and explored how we move from being a bystander to taking action. Roby challenged us to see the dignity and worth in every person, and he expressed his gratitude for the support from ATC and all the Edmund Rice Schools. His faith is applied in practical ways through how ECM welcomes, supports, encourages each and every person who visits.
FORMATION
Punt the Punt – Guest Speaker
Gambling can lead to life-altering consequences if addiction occurs. Lucky Peterson and Dr Matt Young from ‘Punt the Punt’ shared their personal story with our Year 11 cohort this week, in an attempt to educate our students about the warning signs of gambling addiction. The alarming rates of school-aged students with betting Apps on their phones is on the rise and Punt the Punt set out to share the real life consequences of what can occur when it gets out of hand.
Spirit Cup – ATC/Brigidine Interschool Netball
Year 11 and 12 came together this week with the young women of Brigidine for the 2025 Spirit Cup. Netball was this year’s competition and the score line remained close until the very end when Brigidine pipped our boys at the post to take the win. A great afternoon of connection, laughs and thunderous war cries. A great time had by all.
Middle School Chess Competition
A fierce battle unfolded in Callan at lunchtime on Wednesday as Middle School students competed in the Chess Championship.
This event also marked the opening round of the Year 9 House Cup, with Connacht, Ulster, Munster and Leinster all vying for early points. Skill levels ranged from enthusiastic beginners to grandmasters, but what stood out most was the spirit, strategy and sportsmanship shown across the board.
After some bold moves and clever attacks, Ulster House claimed checkmate and secured the crown. Well done to all players for representing their Houses with pride!

Raise funds. Every dollar you raise supports the early detection and therapy for babies with cerebral palsy.
Ready to step up? sign up here: https://www.steptember.org.au/join-ambrosetreacycollege.
Stay tuned for more details. Until then, get ready to step up for a month of feel-good fitness.
*Service Hours may be logged prior to the completion of STEPtember so that hours can be attributed to 2025 totals.
FAQ’s
How do I count my steps?
Outside of school mobile phones will have apps that can keep track for you. During school, an estimation of your steps will be sufficient.
Does my swimming/running/cycling/yoga/vacuuming count as steps?
Yes! On the STEPtember website you will find a conversion chart for many of the day-to-day activities that you already do. You may find that you already do 10,000+ every day!
How much money do I need to raise?
Fundraising amounts will not be monitored and so students are free to fundraise as much or as little as they are able to.
How do I fundraise?
That is entirely up to you. The website has some great ideas, but please note any fundraising must be done outside of the school. Fundraising is not required to participate in this challenge for awareness.
SPORT NEWS
ATC Rugby League
What a Saturday of footy! Our ATC squads went head-to-head with Padua College in a full day of tough, physical contests — and our boys did the jersey proud!
From the opening whistle to the last play, there was effort, belief, and plenty of ATC spirit on display. A few highlights worth shouting out included our mighty 10A’s who stood tall with a commanding 22-8 win, your First XIII lighting up a packed Jack Bowers Hill with a statement 34-10 victory and our 7A's, 8A’s and 9A’s fighting right down to the wire, showing huge resilience and grit until the very end.
Beyond the results, what stood out most was the pride in the jersey, the connection between teams, and the growing belief across the whole program. Every week, we’re building something special together.
Next stop - Round 5 away at Villanova College. Another big test. Another big opportunity. C’mon you blue, green, white!
