On Tuesday, we were greeted by beautiful weather for our celebration of Edmund Rice Feast Day. Students attended Mass led by College Chaplain Father John Gillen. In his homily, he shared Edmund’s enduring legacy, borne out of his faith and conviction to educate young people, especially those who might otherwise not be afforded an education. Father John called upon students to use the opportunities provided by Edmund, the Christian Brothers, and laypeople who continue his work. By taking up these opportunities, students can be signs of faith through service, learning, and leadership.
Mass was followed by the Cross Country, which sent students running uphill and down dale around our riverside campus. It was fiercely competitive at the front of the pack with bonus house points on offer. All students who participated, whether they ran, jogged, walked, or wheeled, earned further house points. The winner will be announced at assembly next Tuesday. Thank you to the Sports Office led by Mr. Brieffies, our Cross-Country coaches, formation team, and supervising staff who made it an enjoyable event.
Uniform is a symbol of our identity, and the way we wear it expresses the pride we have in our school. It serves as a unifying influence for the community and is a valuable part of a young man’s education to learn to present himself in a neat and appropriate manner. Next Monday is the first day of the Formal Uniform, where the College tie and suit coat are to be worn. The College uniform shop, the School Locker, is stocked with ties and suit coats for any families wishing to purchase uniform supplies.
The College badges should only be worn on the suit coat, not on the tie. Please refer to this video as a reference on where and how to wear the badges. Replacement badges are available from the ATC Shop at $6.00 per badge.
