MUSIC NEWS

The Co-curricular Music is a thriving component of the College’s culture, led by an experienced team of passionate music educators. Music tuition is available for students’ learning woodwind, brass, percussion, guitar/bass, voice and piano. Ensembles are comprised of students across different year levels with a similar level of musical experience. Students have a range of performance opportunities as ensemble members or as soloists throughout the year including but not limited to: Autumn Music Concert, Summer Music Concert, Formal Music Evening, Jazz by the River, Celebration of Excellence, Vocal, Piano, Drum Kit & Guitar Recital Concert, Co-curricular Ensembles Evening, Co-curricular Drama Evening, Liturgies, Masses, Anzac Day Ceremonies, school assemblies, soloist concerts, Junior Band and Concert Band breakfast concert and orientation days. Our first concert is on xxx

The main performance opportunity of the year is ATC’s participation in the Queensland Catholic Schools and Colleges Music Festival (QCMF) held at Villanova College. In 2026 QCMF will run from 1x-2x August and all ensembles, bands and choirs will participate.

We use a variety of mediums to communicate with families but, our central source of information for cultural activities is via the ATC APP. We use the College App notifications and alerts regarding lessons, rehearsals and performances. At the beginning of Term One, Co-curricular Music tutors send an introductory email to their students and parents welcoming them to the program and notifying them when the timetables will be available on the APP. Rolls are taken at every rehearsal via CLIPBOARD and, as with Sport, notification of absences are sent to caregivers via email directly. This allows caregivers to be assured that students attend sessions when they are required and notify staff if there is an unexplained absence requiring follow-up.
