Principal's Message Week 9 Term Two

I am humbled by, and grateful for, the messages of congratulations sent in the last week on my appointment to the substantive role of Principal at our College. Thank you to all who have been in touch. It is much appreciated.

My decision to apply for the role has certainly been influenced by the genuine warmth, care, and commitment demonstrated by our staff, families, and the boys themselves since I have arrived here. There is much gold to be mined at Ambrose Treacy College, and you have my firm commitment to ensure that we are known as a place of faith formation, and excellence in teaching and learning. I will do my utmost to serve this community with transparency, clarity, and integrity. I do so with an abiding belief in the value that a Catholic education, and one in the tradition of Edmund Rice, offers to our boys.

We have a dedicated staff here at the College who are collegial, hard-working and possessive of a true vocation to improving the learning, wellbeing, and faith of our boys. I am confident that we will continue to evolve and grow as a school of choice for young men in the western suburbs of Brisbane. While we are not perfect, we are certainly charting our improvement carefully and holding ourselves accountable to the College’s strategic, and annual plans.

I offer my congratulations to Chris Ryan, whose steady and expert hand has guided the good ship Ambrose Treacy with aplomb for the past six years. We wish Chris every success in his new role with Edmund Rice Education Australia in the role of Director of Faith and Identity. I know he will do an amazing job in this position. We will find a time in the coming months to appropriately celebrate, thank, and farewell Chris for his excellent work as Principal here.

As the term comes rapidly to a close, please keep our students who are traveling overseas in your prayers in the coming weeks. We have our language students traveling to Japan, and Mr Pat Webster and I will spend the holidays on immersion with four senior boys in Papua New Guinea. We ask God to keep all travellers safe and well.

I trust the holiday period brings some time for rest and relaxation, so that we all return in term 3 rejuvenated and energised for the work ahead.

Live Jesus in our hearts,

Forever.
