Coming Up Week 4 Term Two

What Mother’s Day Means to Me

Over the decades, the meaning of Mother’s Day has evolved for me.

As a child, I remember carefully spending my 50 cents at the primary school Mother’s Day stall, choosing a fragrant soap or a delicate toilet roll doily. The genuine delight my mother showed at my gift selection!

As a teenager, I began to understand more fully how profoundly my mother shaped the person I would become. When I became a parent, Mother’s Day took on an even deeper significance. The responsibility of caring for and loving my own children reflected the unwavering care my mother had given me. It also brought a new joy, celebrating not only as a son, but as a husband, honouring my wife, who so beautifully cared for our children and continues to do so, even as they are now adults.

Now, Mother’s Day is quieter. Sadly, my mother’s memories are fading with age and dementia. Yet my memories of her remain bright, the woman she is, the love she gave, and the contributions she made as a teacher, volunteer, and advocate for women’s rights.

Thank you to all the mothers of the ATC community. I hope your Sunday is filled with faith, family, and friends who appreciate you for all that you are and all that you do.

Thank you.

PARENTS AND FRIENDS

I have greatly enjoyed working with the Parents and Friends’ Association over the past two and a half years. Their focus on bringing our community together, while raising funds that are reinvested directly into projects that benefit our students, is truly commendable. Most recently, they funded the installation of drinking facilities and signage on Jack Bowers Oval. They have also made a significant contribution to the ongoing upgrade of Nudgee Junior Hall. I encourage all members of our community to get involved and support their important work.

Next Meeting 26 May 6.30pm, Mt Sion Library

Our Reception Staff are working hard to fulfill family orders for college badges, which are available for collection from our Main Reception prior to Photo Day. If your son is present at school on Formal Photo Day without their badge(s), they will be given replacements and parent accounts will be charged.

Two ways to purchase badges:

1. Make payment at the ATC Shop on the College App then collect from Main or Senior Reception.

Note. Students who do not comply with the ATC Uniform, Hair & Appearance Policy risk not being allowed in photos.

Photo Orders

Photo orders will open approximately 4 weeks after photo day. Each family will be sent a unique student picture code.
