Coming Up Term 3 Week 2
Welcome to Term 3
Sunny weather has been a blessing during our first week. It made for ideal conditions for the Athletics Carnival held across Tuesday (Year 4 to 7) and Wednesday (Year 8 to 12). Thank you to the Sport department for organising the events. We will announce the House champions at assembly next week.
Last Monday I sent information out regarding the Aus Alert test which will be held at 2pm on Monday 27 July. I will speak with students at assembly next week to remind them that mobile phones are to be placed in lockers during the school day as per our school policy. There is no change due to the Aus alert testing. Thank you for your partnership in supporting our mobile phone policy.
NAIDOC Week was celebrated whilst we were on school holidays. At next week’s assembly the ATC community will celebrate and recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Our Clontarf Academy students will open the assembly with an Acknowledgement of Country and Prayer. They will also highlight activities taking place throughout the week for our community to engage in and learn about First Nations history and culture.
Next week’s Parent/Teacher/Student Feedback Meetings are an opportunity to reflect on your son’s academic progress, set shared goals, and learn more about the learning ahead in Term 3. All interviews will be held online via Microsoft Teams on Thursday after school and all day Friday. Bookings have now closed and invitations will be sent directly to your calendar. Contact us at learning@atc.qld.edu.au if you have any questions. Please note that Friday is a pupil-free day, and the school office will be open from 8am to 4pm.
I encourage Parents and Friends to attend the next Committee meeting on Tuesday evening, 21 July, at 6:30pm in the Mt Sion (Junior School) library. All are welcome.
Subject Selections are a key focus for the Learning Office this term. The Years 8 and 9 2027 Information Night was held last night. The Years 10 and 11 2027 Subject Selection Information Night and Careers Expo will be held on Wednesday 22 July. The Careers Expo takes place on Level 2 of the Waterford Building from 3:45pm to 5:45pm. It is an excellent opportunity to engage with Tertiary and Industry providers ahead of SET planning/pathways discussions.
Specific information about Subject Selection and Pathways Information for 2027 will be led by Ms Angela Simpson (Ass. Dean Learning Years 9 -12) in the Waterford Auditorium. Year 10 2027 at 5pm. Year 11 2027 at 6pm. As always, please check the College App for updates.

TUCKSHOP
This term, our tuckshop cooks - Cooly, Franz and Lin - will be making delicious and nutritious food for everyone to enjoy. The new menu has a selection of hearty warm daily specials including curries and slow cooked meals. Old favourites, such as hot wraps, fresh sandwiches and salads and bakery items are also available.
The Bakehouse is open from 7.30am so students can enjoy a warm breakfast after their morning sport or music activities.

The tuckshops, Paddy's Place (years 4-7) and The Bakehouse (years 8-12), are cashless and operate on a "no card no service" policy.
Students must have either a student ID card with available funds on their ATC shop account or a credit/debit card to purchase from the tuckshop. Students are not permitted to use their mobile phone/smart watch to tap and pay at the tuckshops.
New student ID cards can be purchased via the ATC Shop or at the IT Office for $5.
ATC Interhouse Athletics Carnivals
The 2nd annual ATC Interhouse Athletics Carnivals were held over two days this week under perfect winter conditions on Jack Bowers Oval, with students from Years 4–12 participating in a range of throwing, running and jumping events in a fun and engaging atmosphere.
Highlights included the exciting shuttle relays and the popular ATC Gift, a Stawell Gift-style handicapped 100m sprint featuring the fastest boys from each year level. The carnivals marked the beginning of the Track and Field season, with training open to all students from Week 2 as preparations begin for the upcoming GBC and AIC Athletics Carnivals later this semester.
