Kitchen Assistant

This is an exciting opportunity to join our vibrant Food Services Team and play a key role in providing fresh, nutritious and high-quality food to students, staff and visitors each day. Working across our busy tuckshop operations, in both Paddy's Place and The Bakehouse, you will contribute to creating a positive dining experience while supporting our food operations during school term time.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Excels as the ‘go‑to’ person in a dynamic school canteen setting, providing proactive support to a busy kitchen team.
  • Has a deep understanding of working in a commercial kitchen, hospitality, food preparation or catering environment.
  • Demonstrates a strong understanding of food safety, hygiene requirements, safe food handling practices and efficient use of a POS system.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment and is able to efficiently manage competing priorities to food meet service targets.
  • Is a collaborative team member who also works effectively with limited supervision.
  • Brings a positive, energetic and customer-focused approach to food preparation and service.
  • Possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills that contribute to a supportive team culture.
  • Supports the mission, values and ethos of Catholic education in the Edmund Rice tradition.
  • Holds a Certificate II in Kitchen Operations, Hospitality or a related field (desirable).
  • Builds positive, professional relationships with students, colleagues and the wider school community, upholding high standards of integrity, communication, discretion and teamwork.
  • Shows a genuine commitment to supporting student wellbeing and contributing to a caring, values‑driven school culture.
  • Holds, or is eligible to apply for, a Working with Children Check (Blue Card).
