Last Monday our Book Club gathered at Claire’s home to discuss this month’s read “The Soldier’s Curse”. Definitely a worthwhile read! Next book club will be held at Laurraine Murray’s place (287J Kenmore Road, Fig Tree Pocket) on 17 July. We are reading “The Mayne Inheritance” by Rosamond Siemon. Happy Reading!
Rugby Home Games – Volunteers Needed
Parents of the 7A, 8A, Years 9 & 10 teams are requested to volunteer on Tuesday, 13 June. The ATC Sports Support Group are providing hospitality when we host Nudgee College on Jack Bowers oval and would appreciate volunteers to help cook sausages, help with serving platters on the fields and serving at the canteen. The canteen will run from the Jack Bowers canteen. Cooking will be from around 3.15pm to 4pm and serving from 4pm-7pm. Please TEXT Donna if you can help out. Mobile 0417623367

If you cannot transport your son to UQ on Wednesday, a bus service will be running from the College. Please click here to register your son on the bus by Monday 8pm.
Last Tuesday was the last P&F Meeting for the semester. We look forward to seeing you in Mt. Sion Staff Room (at the Junior School Library precinct) at 6.30pm on Tuesday 18 July (WEEK 2) for our first meeting in Term 3. If you haven’t had time to join us earlier in the year, please come along and get involved and hear what’s coming up for Semester 2. As always, we need volunteers to help us keep up the famous ATC friendraising!
ATC Trivia Night
The annual ATC Trivia Night will be held on Saturday 29 July at 6pm in the Nudgee Junior Hall. The theme this year is ‘Countries’. If you need to join a table, contact your Year Level Parent Liaison, then include this information when booking online. If you have your table organised, nominate a team captain and provide their details in your booking. Bookings Close Monday 24 July. Of course we will have RAFFLE PRIZES AND PRIZES ON THE NIGHT! Buy raffle tickets online or on the night. The NJ Hall opens at 2pm for table decorating.
One country theme per table, and each table is required to have a theme song to go with their choice of country. Bonus points for dancing to your theme song! No anthems allowed. AFL Boys’ Day Out AFL
Book now before the end of term: The Annual Boys’ Day Out for AFL LIONS vs WESTERN BULLDOGS match is on Saturday 5 August. It might seem a long way off but we need to book our tickets early for this game. This is an event for all family members (dads, mums, sons, daughters and grandparents). We will meet at 3pm for pizza & drinks and then proceed as a group into the stadium for the match.
The Full package includes pizza & drinks, commemorative ATC cap and game ticket with prices ranging from $120 for a Family of 4 (2 adults, 2 Juniors) to only $25 for a Junior ticket (6-14 y/o). Reduced pricing for the package without the cap and for game tickets only. Just choose what suits your family.
Year 4 Catch Up AMENDED DATE
Join other Year 4 families at the Sherwood AFL Club at 41 Chelmer St East on Sunday 23 July at 3:30pm to celebrate the start of a new semester. The kids can bring a ball to play on the oval, there’s entertainment provided and there will be a cash bar for pizza’s and drinks. Hope to see you there! Help out Year 10 student, Bobby Pate as he ‘lives his faith through action’ in supporting the Blankets for Brisbane initiative. Please consider donating your surplus blankets or throws to help keep those on the margins warm this winter. Drop them off at Student Reception before the end of term.
Footy Boots Drive
If you have some unused football boots lying around at home, whether you’ve thrown in the towel or the boots simply don’t fit you anymore, the 6 Treacy class, driven by Mikiyas Simpson would like the boots to be dropped off at their classroom anytime next week before the end of term. We only have one week to get these boots in, so pull up your socks and let’s get busy!
Tinned Food Drive
Year 8 are running a canned food collection until the end of term. Please add a few extra tins of food to your trolley this week and send donations to Student Reception. Let’s make this winter a little easier for those less fortunate.
From Saturday 24 June to Sunday 2 July the Annual Lifeline Bookfest will be held at Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre. If you love second hand book sales this is the biggest and best fundraising event to assist the 24 Hour Lifeline Crisis Support Line.
