iPads
Each class now has 15 iPads available to use. By working collaboratively together across the classes it means that for many activities and lessons that each boys in a class has their own iPad. The internet connections have been fantastic and with the tech-savvy teachers of 4 Nolan (Mr Hassett), 4 Lynch (Mrs Smout) and Ms Campbell (4 Treacy) many interesting and engaging lessons have been planned. Mr Gordon (4 Bodkin) continues his steep learning curve with the aid of the Year 4 Gen Y teachers.
Looking Forward
It is full steam ahead as we learn about forces (Science), explorers (Humanities), information reports (History), Bible Referencing and Parables (RE) and many new concepts in Maths. You may have seen our Year 4 boys on Facebook this week. The boys are learning about Explorers in Humanities and were curious about the Spice Trade and how the spices were used 600 years ago. They delved into the concept of preserving meats from spoiling and saw how people drowned their meat in a lot of salt to preserve it and used spices to cover up the taste of the salted or spoiled meat. Students then had the opportunity to smell, feel and taste some spices in the classroom. It was a very interesting experiment. Take a look at their reactions!
