I have been involved in sport all my life, most recently as a Strength and Conditioning or Athletic Performance Coach. Since graduating from the University of Queensland in 2011 I worked with the majority of UQ’s sports including Rowing, Football, Squash, Rugby, Rugby League, Softball, Swimming and Tennis. During this time, I also worked for the Australian Paralympic Committee, training the Wheelchair Rugby and Boccia athletes. Since then, I have spent time at both St. Josephs College Gregory Terrace and Padua College in a similar role to my role at Ambrose Treacy College. In recent years I have been working in Rugby League with Wynnum Manly Seagulls in the Queensland Cup, with the Brisbane Broncos in the Holden Cup Competition (U20’s) and at the Penrith Panthers as the NRL Strength and Conditioning Coach.
As the Athletic Performance Coordinator, I will focus on two main objectives.
The development and acquisition of functional movement patterns by all our students.
I believe movement literacy is essential for our youth to live healthy and productive lives and it is paramount they are given the foundations, or building blocks, through participation in physical activity.
Adequately prepare our students physically, to be competitive in all sports that the College competes in.
All sports require varying levels of muscular strength, speed, agility, endurance, flexibility and coordination to not only be successful but to decrease the risk of injury.
I have a strong passion for all things sport, particularly Rugby Union and Rugby League. I continue to train and play sport myself and hope with my experience and enthusiasm I can add to the already thriving Sport Program at Ambrose Treacy College.
I look forward to the challenge and opportunities that lie ahead. If you have any questions regarding the Gym or the Athletic Development Program please contact me anytime or come and see me in the Sport Department.
