Week 9 Community News

The P&F have Music and Sport Support groups, the Boys’ Days Out, Parent Book Club, Year Level gatherings, social evenings for parents and celebration events such as the upcoming Mothers’ Day breakfast. There’s always plenty of events to take part in, to volunteer to help out and to easily get involved in the ATCommunity.

We had our most successful bookclub gathering last Thursday night! Brenda Forrest who lived in Cincinatti near where the book was written, kindly made for us the layered Sky chilli which is talked about in the book ‘Eligible’. Throughout the night’s discussion it was decided that it was a good modern take on the original, but will NEVER replace the actual ‘Pride & Prejudice’!

The next gathering of the ‘Read Between the Wines’ bookclub is on Monday 16 April at 7.30pm at Tric’s house. The book is One Life: My Mother’s Story by Kate Grenville (who also wrote ‘The Secret River’ & ‘Lieutenant’) ‘When Kate Grenville’s mother died she left behind many fragments of memoir. These were the starting point for One Life, the story of a woman whose life spanned a century of tumult and change.’ It sounds fascinating, so please join us at Tric’s home in Toowong. New book lovers are always welcome.
