Week 6 Community News

Last Saturday night, despite the inclement weather, many parents and friends attending the ATC Welcome night. They enjoyed the night, taking advantage of choosing music from the jukebox and playing handball in the hall. Lots of laughter over a fun night out of drinks, food and meeting other members of their ‘tribe’ (parents of the same year boys).

The ATC P & F would like to congratulate and acknowledge the huge contribution of Be Yeo-Bradshaw in organising this event. Well done Be, your enthusiasm and hard-work is appreciated by the ATC community. We would also like to thank all the volunteers, particularly Kathleen Eldred and Suzanne Rosolen for their contributions to a successful evening. Year 11 Mums Night Out

Year 11 mums are invited to celebrate International Women’s Day with a screening Mary Magdalene at Palace Cinemas James Street New Farm on Wednesday night 7 March at 6pm. Buy your $15 ticket online at the Palace website. Jay Mooney, Year 11 Parent Liaison will meet you in the foyer near the ticket counter.

Get Connected – Year 5 Liaison

Just one more opportunity exists to get connected, meet and make new friends. through ATC community friend raising initiatives. We are particularly looking for a Year 5 Level Parent Liaisons. This role helps with communicating and supporting the ATC community. Please consider joining the mums listed below and take on the role of Parent Liaison of your son’s year level.

P&F Book Club

The next Read Between the Wines Bookclub book is ‘Eligible’ by Curtis Sittenfeld’ part of the Austen Project, a modern day version of Pride & Prejudice and now the Bennet sisters are fighting for last season’s reality tv star from the Bachelor, and Darcy is re-cast as Dr Mc Dreamy! Sounds like fun so come along to Be Yeo-Bradshaw’s home on 15 March at 7.30pm. Full details are on the College App so subscribe to the “Read Between the Wines” tag. New readers to the Bookclub are always welcome.

Raising Teenage Boys – Parent Evening Tuesday 13 March 6.30pm NJ Hall
Parenting can be considered one the toughest jobs going, and every parent wants to do the best they can for their children. Ambrose Treacy College welcomes parents to an information night presented by The Powerhouse, supporting parents on RAISING TEENAGE BOYS. Key note speakers will address, ‘The Mystery of The Teenage Brain’, ‘Adopting the right mindset, strategies from ‘The 7 Keys to Effective Teen Parenting’, plus ‘The BIG IDEA’ that cuts through the daily micro managing. Take the Struggle and Frustration out of Parenting Your Teenage Boy and join the ATC Community for an informative parent night that is a real Game Changer.

Year 4 Play Date
Join the Year 4 families for an after-school play in the park on Friday 23 March Friday afrom 3.30pm to 5.30pm at Biambi Yumba park, Kenny Street Fig Tree Pocket. BYO afternoon tea and drinks. We look forward to meeting you and getting to know one another.

Around Our Community

Community Mass
Please join the ATC community at the Term 1 Mass on Saturday 3 March at 5.30pm. This is always a relaxed and celebratory mass where the kids get together in the Chapel and enjoy a Saturday evening as a community. All family and friends are welcome to celebrate the Eucharist with us. Students do not need to wear their uniform. Connacht families are reminded that all House members should attend as Connacht is hosting this mass.

Clean Up Australia Day
Calling all parents – If you have a ute or a trailer and you’re happy to assist in transporting the collected rubbish to identified skip bin locations in Chelmer, Indooroopilly, Kenmore, Graceville and Oxley we could use your help next Sunday 4 March from 7am at the College. If you can bring your ute and trailer on the morning, we can dispose of the collected rubbish immediately. See the App for full details.

World’s Greatest Shave
Please support Year 11 Student, Quentijn Whitflield as he raises awareness and much needed research funds for cancer sufferers and their families. Quentijn will shave off his long blonde locks in March down to a Number 2 blade!

The theme for the event is ‘Hope – Bringing a sense of purpose.’ Join the Brigidine community for a Wellbeing and Spirituality Evening on 8 March at 5.15pm for finger food, 6pm Guest speakers including Samantha Freebairn
