Tougher Than you Think

Parents and boys enjoy trail running on Tuesdays 6.30am

If you ever get the chance, read Born to Run: A Hidden Tribe and the Greatest Race the World Has Never Seen by Christopher McDougall. It remains for me one of the most engaging books I have ever read and has kept me running for many years despite my quite apparent lack of talent in this discipline.

One of my favourite quotes from the book is that “You don’t have to be fast. But you’d better be fearless.” Over the past three weeks we have seen a huge growth in our Trail Running program and I can’t help but draw a parallel to this book.

This week 90+ boys, parents and staff hit the trails together with our boys digging in and showing inspirational strength, toughness and fearlessness. There are plenty of fast runners, but more importantly lots more fearless ones!!

Sure there was some whinging, a little bit of walking and even the odd tantrum. Some of this even came from the students! But the beauty of Trailing Running is the pride and strength that the boys show when they run up the last hill, cheered on by the rest of the group – the burning legs and the fatigue forgotten in the fun of running with your mates! To quote McDougall, “We’ve got a motto here – you’re tougher than you think you are, and you can do more than you think you can.” So let this inspire you to join us at 6.45am every Tuesday morning!

Winter Sports – Rugby, Football, Cross Country

We released the overview of Rugby, Football and Cross Country today on the App. Please take a moment to read, and for Rugby and Football, to complete the sign-on form online for your sons to participate in either Rugby or Football. The pink forms submitted at the end of last year and the beginning of this year have given us a great indication of numbers and we are now needing to finalise exact numbers of teams to enter into various competitions.

Please read and complete these forms as soon as possible to assist us in planning for our best ever winter at ATC!

Year 4's are enjoying Paddle Play.

New Zealand Ski Trip – Mt Hutt 2 – 8 July 2017

There are a few spots left for students in Year 7 to 10. At $2150 it is quality package and a great opportunity. Please contact me if you are interested.
