The Start of a Busy Term

Welcome back to a new term. I hope all families had a relaxing and fun filled holiday. I thoroughly enjoyed a break up the Sunshine Coast but it was great to get back amongst the energy and smiling faces of the boys at ATC this week. Term 2 is notoriously busy and this year proves to be no exception. Each week under the “COMING UP” tab I will keep you updated with the latest events and activities. Please ensure you check in with the LATEST NEWS BLOG regularly to find out what’s happening in and around the College.

Year 4 parents are warmly invited to attend our Year 4 Mass this Friday 15 April 2016 at 9.15am in The Chapel of St Joseph. The Chapel of St Joseph is located at the College, Level 2 of the Edmund Rice Building (above the Year 7 Wynne classroom).

Year 4 students are expected to wear their full formal suit to the Mass. There will be a shared Morning Tea for parents afterwards. If all attending parents could please bring a plate, a wonderful sense of community can be established.

The initiative acknowledges the primary role of parents and guardians in the growth and development of our boys and provides an opportunity for your participation in the life of our community. We look forward to welcoming you to the College on Friday 15 April.

Date Claimer – Year 7 families are invited to their Year level Mass on Friday 13 May.

All Year 5 boys and their families are invited to join us for a sausage sizzle and a fun afternoon at Rocks Riverside Park Seventeen Mile Rocks. 23 April, 2-5pm. Cost is $5 per head. To assist with catering, please preorder by clicking here.

BYO – Chairs, ball/cricket set/soccer ball etc.
If you have any queries please contact the Year 5 Parent Coordinators and Class Liaisons Tobin and Andrea

We look forward to seeing you there.

Partnerships with families are an important component of a boy’s education. The Middle School Parent Teacher Feedback meetings are scheduled for Monday 18 April 2016 from 3.30pm-6.30pm and Thursday 21 April 2016 from 1.30pm-7.30pm, in the Nudgee Junior Hall. This is a great opportunity to continue to develop relationships with staff, obtain positive feedback regarding your son’s work, and to hear strategies for continual improvement. Please refer to the email sent to all Middle School Parents with instructions on how to make an online booking. Please note bookings close midday on Friday 15 April 2016. You will still be able to view your bookings after this time, but will not be able to make further bookings or changes after 12.00pm on Friday 15 April 2016. This will allow teachers to plan ahead for the meetings. If a teacher is fully booked please contact the teacher directly to make an appointment on an alternative day.
Please enter the Hall from the back. If you arrive early or have a gap between meetings, please take a seat in the allocated chairs outside and help yourself to tea and coffee from the Hall kitchen.
Meetings are strictly 7 minutes long. To ensure efficiency, please remember to have a copy of your meeting times with you. Teachers will be seated alphabetically.

We look forward to seeing you and your son at the Parent Teacher Feedback meetings.

During Thursday 21 April afternoon,
Years 4,5,6 and 8 will operate normal lessons until 3.00pm.
Year 7 students will be involved in their Retreat all day Thursday.
Year 9 students will have normal lessons until second break and then an important session until 3.00pm on pathways and subjects for Year 10 2017.

Families are invited to join us for the College’s ANZAC Day Liturgy on Friday 22 April. The Liturgy will be held in the Nudgee Junior Hall commencing at 8.25am. The College is planning to have some student representatives at the local RSL ANZAC Day ceremony. ANZAC Day badges will be sold by a group of students at the College next week to raise awareness of the ANZACS and raise some funds.
With Monday 25 April being a Public Holiday and a number of Mondays ‘lost’ on the timetable, the following Friday of that week (29 April) will operate as a Monday timetable.

There are only a couple of places left on the Cultural Tour that is travelling to Japan in the June/July holidays. If your son is interested, please email Mr Paul Ramsey Japanese Coordinator as soon as possible.
