Ms Terrey is the former Principal of Mt St Michael’s College, Ashgrove and now works with the Queensland Catholic Education Commission and Mr Begg commences as the new Principal of Villanova College in 2022 after being the Foundation Principal of St Joseph’s College, Upper Coomera. This rigorous review process is an excellent opportunity for reflection and consolidation of our practices as a growing school.
Our families of the Clontarf Academy will gather on Tuesday evening in Nudgee Junior Hall at 6pm for their end of year celebrations. Our second year of partnership with the Clontarf Foundation has been fruitful and we look forward to celebrating with our First Nation students and their families. I congratulate and thank our students for their leadership, representation of culture and story and their service to the College and our growth during 2021.
Our partnership with the Clontarf Foundation continues to enrich the lives of these boys as do they enrich the lives of our students and staff and the culture and context of our College. We have recently submitted our updated Reconciliation Action Plan to Narragunnawali for approval and look forward to our continuing commitment to this vital part of our community.
Year 12 2022 Information Evening
We look forward to welcoming the current Year 11 parents and caregivers to this evening on Thursday 4 November at 6:00pm in Nudgee Junior Hall. Please note this is a parent only evening and no students are to attend. After two years of the new Senior School model, plenty of learnings and insights have become clear and sharing these will be helpful for all. This is also a key opportunity to help in preparing for the signpost, rites of passage experience of the Year 12 Claddagh Retreat.
Associated Independent Colleges (AIC)
It was great to see and hear our 2022 Seniors speaking passionately on assembly last week as we build towards our guest participation in the AIC next year. Our invitation to participate in lead up and championship events in swimming, cross country and athletics is a particularly exciting opportunity for the development of our collective community spirit and support. Along with our ongoing relationships with GBC and GPS schools, this emerging friendship with the AIC will greatly assist our improvement and depth in participation. A sub committee of the College Advisory Council (Board), chaired by Mr Darrin Neumann has been formed to specifically support our strategic approach to this phase of our Sport Program development and I thank the members for their commitment. This project will very much be enhanced by our partnership between students, staff, parents and caregivers and we look forward to developing and sharing in our approach.
Parents and Friends
Best wishes to all who are coming along to the ATC P&F Trivia Night event this Saturday night. I am sure a great time will be had by all. Thank you to The P&F for the hosting of this event and we look forward to a hopeful return to more ‘normal programming’ in 2022.
In November, this year, we will begin the process of calling for applications for Year 4 in 2023 and Year 7 in 2025. It might surprise you to hear that we interview for Year 7 three years prior to entry. This is the practice across all Catholic schools for boys in Brisbane. As a developing school, we have been able to manage later applications in the past but this trend has changed dramatically with strong interest for years to come.
Families who have a child in those years or any future years and have not yet submitted an expression of interest are encouraged to do so immediately. With significantly more applicants than positions available, your immediate attention to this matter is important. The College is currently managing waiting lists for Year 7 entry in 2022, 2023 and 2024.
