Performing Arts News Week 7 Term 4 2016

Last Thursday evening was our Summer Concert – a final opportunity for nine ensembles to take to the stage for 2016. The Hall was decorated with tinsel and fairy lights and the welcome our performers received was as warm as the evenings temperature. It was great to finish off the year with a musical BANG.

Thank to the Brass Ensemble and Andrew Coogan (Year 9) for a heartfelt performance at the Remembrance Day Service on Friday morning. Andrew has been practising for many weeks on the Last Post trumpet piece performing confidently and proficiently.

Please be aware that ALL correspondence for 2017 ensembles and rehearsals will be communicated via the new ATC APP. Please read the installation instructions via the link below to download the APP onto your mobile device.

There are no rehearsals for the remainder of the school year – with the exception of the Handbells who will have a final cleaning session and break up next Monday 21 November.

Auditions will conclude by next Monday and Ensemble members will be decided on by mid week of Week 8. All new ensembles will be posted on the noticeboard outside the Music rooms by Thursday 24 November. A letter of congratulations will be sent home via Australia Post early in the week inviting members to join one or more of the ensembles for 2017. Please RSVP to Mrs Scalia via email as soon as possible. All relevant information will be in this letter of invitation. Keep an eye out for the ‘postie’. Please contact your individual teacher if you are not sure about auditions and ensemble invitations.

Please note that next Monday we will celebrate our final practice for 2016. At 3 pm each ringer will bring their plate of food to share to the bell room. After the bells have been cleaned and packed away, we will enjoy a food breakup. Pick up time for all ringers will be 5 pm. Here’s cheers to our last get together for the year.
(Please also note that we must thank our friends the Delaneys for coming along last week to help us to fix our handchimes.

Choral news

Thanks to all mums and dads for providing the yummy treats for our end of year celebrations. Auditions for the 2017 Chamber Choir (Years 4-10) have been taking place this week. Students who have been successful in their auditions will be notified next week via the Notice board and a letter. Thank you for a fantastic year of singing and we look forward to an even better 2017.

Cultural Support Group

Once again our Cultural Support Group triumphed at our Summer Concert and provided us with hospitality and a perfectly decorated Hall for our final concert. This small group of parents has kept us all fed and watered and looked after at every concert and event we have had this year.

We will be filing away all of the music and copies from this year into our storage in the last week of the Term – please contact Mrs Lisa Morris to assist from 21 to 25 November.
