Performing Arts News Week 2 Term 4 2016

Jazz by the River numbers are fantastic. The team of staff, volunteers, mums and dads who have been working with Mrs Scalia to get this event up and running have been extraordinary. The rehearsal of the All Stars Band on Monday night went very well and we look forward to a little taste of the Jazz by the River when we see the ATC Big Band perform on Assembly tomorrow morning. Wed 2 November Vocal Concert 6.30 pm – All choirs /selected vocal students

Keep an eye out for information about upcoming AUDITIONS for our bands and ensembles in 2017. Students will get an opportunity to try out in the weeks following our Night of Excellence evening.

Rehearsals and performances

All rehearsals are very important this week to get ourselves in great shape for the Jazz by the River event on Saturday.

Junior Chamber Choir and Middle School Singers are involved in Jazz by the River also –Junior Chamber Choir – your rehearsals in Weeks 2 & 3 are Monday mornings 7am SHARP and Wednesdays at 2nd break.

It was exciting to welcome new members to both the Junior and Middle School Handbell Ensembles at our first practices for Term 4. Our next practices are Monday 24 October. Rehearsals are NOT on 17 October.
An email has been sent out with timing and other details for next week for the NEW STUDENTS only Handbell practice on Monday 17 October.

Please note : Mr Laganin and Mr Grindrod’s students for Week 3 will have their lessons on another day and will be notified due to the Pupil Free Day.

There have been NO changes to rehearsals of ensembles/ bands for Term 4.

If you are unable to attend rehearsals, please advise the conductor and Mrs Scalia via the email addresses below.

Cultural Support Group

We have several opportunities for you to help out with our Jazz by the River. Click here to sign on to volunteer for the many jobs.

There is a homebake Trybooking site also for brownies and cup cakes if you are either unable to attend on the day or are a wiz in the kitchen please click here to donate.

Students in Years 7,8 and 9 have been given the opportunity to be Ushers and helpers and earn Service Hours. If you are still keen to help out, please email Mrs Andrea McAvoy.

Jazz by the River Further Info

What can we say – this event is going to be SPECTACULAR! It won’t be long before we reach capacity at our new Main Stage and Gully stage areas. We have a Magic Show & and the Brigidine Song and Dance troupe and Choir as well as the Gregory Terrace Black Big Band to keep you entertained at this exceptionally popular event on Saturday 15 October from 4 pm. Tickets are $35 per family; $15 per adult; $10 concession and $5 per child

Raffle tickets and Eat Street vouchers are also available on the booking site so it is a ONE STOP SHOP. Our raffle is getting bigger by the day but we are in need of last minute gourmet goodies and chocolates if you could help us out. We have an amazing ART auction being prepared for this event – you will be able to bid for your son’s individual or group piece of art on the day and bidding wars will need to be supervised.
