Leading us on the Path to 2023

Mr Ryan with Harvey Cole, David Childs, Byron Butcher

I am delighted to formally announce the College Student Leaders for 2023:
David Childs: College Captain
Byron Butcher: College Vice – Captain
Harvey Cole: College Vice – Captain

I warmly congratulate these students and wish them well for this responsibility. I also congratulate all of the students who were short listed in this process and acquitted themselves so well. We are indeed blessed by the calibre of young people within our community, and I look forward to the announcement of House Leaders for 2023 and the leadership of the entire cohort. In the meantime, we remain in the capable hands of our 2022 Seniors who are doing a most commendable job across all domains of College life.

Catholic Education Week

Ambrose Treacy College is delighted to join 308 other Catholic schools throughout Queensland in celebrating our mission, identity and culture during Catholic Education Week. The theme of this week focusses on the Gospel values of Faith, Hope and Love. Whilst imperfect as a very human community, we aspire to be a Gospel infused community and I celebrate all of our students, Old Boys, parents and caregivers and staff who build God’s Kin-Dom in the ordinary and every day through their relationships and interactions of Faith, Hope and Love.

Another fabulous activity to be undertaking in this special week is our Edmund Rice Education Australia school renewal visitation and process. We look forward to welcoming members of the National EREA Executive, fellow Edmund Rice schools and Brisbane Catholic Education in visiting our school and to sharing the feedback developed with the community in due course. Thank you to all of our staff, students, parents and Old Boys who are being interviewed as a part of this
renewal cycle.

The week will conclude with our Parent and Friends Trivia Night on Saturday evening. Whilst a coincidence, I think it is a powerful one that Catholic Education Week will conclude at ATC with this fun evening that celebrates community and friendship. Thank you to Suzanne Rosolen and her supporters for hosting this evening.

Staffing News

A part of being a large community is the sadness caused when members of the staff aspect of our ATC family are called to take on new challenges with new communities. We wish Liza Peapell, a member of our Formation Team and Fiona Ryan, a member of our Finance Team continued health and happiness as they finish their time with us in the coming weeks. We have been blessed to have Liza and Fiona with us and thank them most sincerely for their contributions to the Ambrose Treacy College story.

Academic Assemblies

It is most appropriate that we celebrate our 3 Academic Assemblies during Catholic Education Week. An aspiration to excellence is a principle of Catholic social teaching and an important aspect of our culture at ATC where our students are challenged and supported to strive for their personal best.

One way in which we acknowledge these efforts is through our biannual academic awards. I congratulate the students who will receive these on our assemblies this week and acknowledge the partnership between them, their parents and caregivers and teachers which supports their efforts.

Equally, I celebrate and acknowledge the efforts and achievements of all students, home and school partnerships of students who may not walk across the stage this week but very much are doing their best and achieving great things. This is also a key domain of the culture of our school and is indicative of our commitment to inclusivity.

Nationally Consistent Collection of Data

Every year, all schools in Australia participate in the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD) for students with disability. The NCCD provides state and federal governments with the information they need to plan more broadly for the support of students with disability. Additionally, it informs best practices within the school environment and develops shared practices in order to improve educational outcomes for students with disability. Please CLICK HERE for further information on NCCD.

Clontarf Academy

Congratulations to everyone involved in the College’s NAIDOC Week celebrations last week. Please CLICK HERE
to read the Clontarf Academy Newsletter which tells stories of the wonderful work our Clontarf Academy is doing at ATC.

I ask the community to please keep William Cartmill [7S] and his family in your thoughts and prayers after the recent passing of his uncle and Finn [5T] and Austin Ebzery [7B] and their family in your thoughts and prayers after the recent loss of their grandfather. We hope that the passage of time will help heal the pain of their passing. Eternal rest grant unto them O Lord, may perpetual light shine upon them, may they rest in peace. Amen.

God bless.
