Getting Down to Business

Our Year 12 students continue to manage the demands of the extended external exam process well. Some fellows have finished now and are looking forward to Valedictory celebrations on Thursday 18 November. There are some major assessments this week to go with hard hitters such as Chemistry today and Physics later in the week along with Modern History and Japanese – plenty to come.

Year 12s after the Maths exam last week.

Well done to our Year 12 students for doing their best. All other year levels are coming into the business end of term with Year 11 commencing exam block at the end of next week. The exam schedule for all year levels has been drafted and will be made available to all students and parents later this week.

Congratulations to the ATC Tech Warriors who competed in the regional competition for Robotics last Saturday. The team performed credibly, coming in the top 3 and being awarded the Core Values prize which recognises the team who best displayed collaboration, co-operation and respect. The ATC Tech Warriors are through to the national competition which will be held at Sheldon College on 6 December. We wish the team and their Coach, Mr Adam Moss all the very best and congratulate them on a terrific effort.

Our Clontarf Academy that supports our 40 First Nation students in education, employment and health had their awards ceremony last Wednesday night. It was wonderful to see so many of our parents and staff gather for this special occasion. Our Year 12 graduating students, Alan, Jamiyah and Reece were especially celebrated and recognised and I congratulate the ATC Clontarf Warrior of the year, Jye Duncan-Cope on his special award and leadership.

Staff News

Mr Jackson Hickey, who worked part-time within our Communications Team, finished his time with us last week. We congratulate Mr Hickey on his appointment to a full-time communications and media coordinator’s role with a sporting goods company and wish him well. Mr Hickey is well known as the College photographer and a successful Volleyball coach and will be missed. We are currently recruiting for this role.

In further staffing news, Mrs Jodi Rivalland, who works with my role and oversees management of the College Reception team is transitioning to a full-time role in the corporate sector at the end of November. Jodi has been with Nudgee Junior and ATC for the past 10 years and is highly respected and valued for her grace, professionalism, and ability to build quality relationships. Jodi has been working with the College Leadership Team since the beginning of ATC and has contributed significantly to all aspects of the College’s establishment. She will be greatly missed and goes with our affection, admiration, and gratitude. We are presently recruiting for the role of Professional Assistant to the Principal.

Community News

Thank you to all who attended the successful Parents and Friends Trivia Night last Saturday evening. While the staff were disappointed with our position of 7th place, a great time was had by all and it was lovely to have this opportunity as this event was postponed due to the August lockdown. Thank you to Suzanne Rosolen and all of the parents who co-ordinated and hosted this event.

We look forward to the College 2021 Celebration of Excellence at Riverlife next Tuesday evening. This will be the largest College community gathering to be held over the past two years and will be a wonderful evening of celebration in acknowledging the achievements of the partnership between students, staff, parents and caregivers.

God bless.
