Community News from the P&F

Battling the Heat - the T20 Big Bash Boys Day Out was a huge success.

Welcome back to all our families for 2017. This is the first of our weekly “blogs” to keep you up to date with what your P&F are organising.

Our first P&F meeting will be on Tuesday, 7 February at 6:30pm in the Mt. Sion Staff Room. Please come along and join in the fun. This is your chance to become involved in the school community, meet some of our extraordinary committee members, and keep up to date with what’s happening around the school. There are also plenty of other ways to become involved, read on for what’s been happening, and for some date claimers as well.

The school holidays doesn’t stop the activities of some of our wonderful volunteers. A wonderful evening was had by the lucky families who were able to get tickets to our first Cultural Boys Day Out, seeing Cirque Du Soleil’s “Kooza” at the end of 2016. And then, last Friday night more than 150 boys and their families attend the Big Bash Boys Day Out. The heat certainly didn’t deter the numbers, and the game was fantastic. A very big thank you goes to Andrea McAvoy and her band of helpers for organising these two events.

We have also had a Welcome Morning Tea for the Middle and Senior School parents/carers on the first day of school. It was great to see new families making friends and becoming familiar with the College layout. The Westcourt deck is a wonderful place to gather. On Saturday our Year 4 families met on Brothers Oval for a casual afternoon of games and friend-raising. These events are such a wonderful way to welcome back returning families, and welcome new families into the school community. A thank you to Anda Bakker and Cassandra Bridges and their helpers for organising these events.
