This leads me to comment on Term 3 last day of school. A number of families decided to allow their son to not attend school on the last day of term. Unfortunately this undermines the rest of the cohort and the planned program for the day. ‘Finishing well’ includes attendance and involvement. Saying ‘nothing happens’ or ‘no one goes to school’ are soft options and not ones that encourage good standards. With nine weeks holiday for students, I believe there should be no excuse for students to ‘take and extra day holiday’.
Whole School Outing
Part of the College finishing well is celebrating the end of the year with the Annual Whole School Outing. On Friday 18 November Junior School (Years 4-6) students will be travelling to Movie World and Middle School Students (Years 7-9) will have the option of travelling to Wet n’ Wild or to Movie World. This is a very exciting day for the students and teachers, and is a great way to celebrate the finish of the school year. So much has been achieved in our second year as ATC and it will be nice to have the opportunity for staff and students to enjoy an outing together. The letter emailed to all families yesterday is also available via the link below. I look forward to everyone having a positive finish to an excellent year.

New School App
Last week we launched the new College App and I encourage all families to install it on your mobile devices. This will provide a quick and convenient form of communication and in 2017 it will become our primary conduit for communication, eliminating the need for emails.
Detailed instructions are included in the Installation and Initial Set-up guide which can be downloaded via the link below. For those families who had the old App installed, please delete this from your devices. It is imperative that once you have installed the App, you ALLOW NOTIFICATIONS and then go to SETTINGS and choose the things you want to subscribe to.
This will include the sports your sons play, the cultural areas they are involved in, the after school activities they have joined and their Year Level. Once you do this, you WILL ONLY RECEIVE NOTIFICATIONS FOR THOSE AREAS.
If you have any questions, please email communications@ATC.qld.edu.au
