Coming Up Week 1 Term Two

As Easter is upon us, we take time to reflect on this joyful end to the Lenten season. As we mark the Resurrection of Jesus three days after he was crucified, we reflect on his sacrifice, his giving to others and his love for mankind. May our lives be filled with compassion, kindness and humility.

This is the most sacred of rituals and times in our Christian calendar. Our world is full of challenges, but the Gospel message of compassion and joy is truly a blessing for us all.

Save the Date! – QCMF 11-14 August 2022
We are delighted to announce that we have received correspondence confirming that the Queensland Catholic Schools and Colleges Music Festival 2022 will proceed on campus at Villanova College in “live and in person” format.
This news is incredibly exciting for all of us involved in music education and, for our more senior musicians to return to an event that had such a positive influence on their love of music-making. I want to communicate that this event is considered to be the premier event on Queensland’s Catholic Schools and Colleges annual music calendar and is proudly hosted by Villanova College (Coorparoo). QCMF showcases the very best in music education, covering a diverse range of genres within the classical and contemporary styles. The ensembles representing Ambrose Treacy College at QCMF from 11 – 14 August 2022 are listed on the ATC App.

Autumn Concert

After a week of rain and flooding the sun shone (if only briefly) to allow the pre-concert entertainment to take place with the first group the Jazz Ensemble treating a gathering of early arrivals with their first public performance and for many of their group their first performing the jazz genre. As the gathering grew, the Big Band and ATC Jazz Orchestra took to the stage and created a fantastic atmosphere as the entree to a main course of Concert Bands and Choral music that would follow in the NJ Hall. The Concert Band opened the proceedings for the formal part of the evening with a very exciting and energizing performance of “Defender of Time”. This was especially well received by the families of those boys in the ensemble who started their musical journey just 12 months or so ago in the Junior Band. To follow was the Wind Ensemble who performed two very impressive numbers including the soundtrack to “Pirates of the Caribbean”. The college’s most senior wind band the “ATC Symphonic Winds” then took to the stage and performed two very sophisticated pieces of repertoire including “Brick Street Encounter” to a very impressive level, particularly given that the group did not have a rehearsal with the complete line-up at any stage in term 1. The final performance of the evening was delivered by the ATC Senior Singers, who with a number of missing members were able to entertain the audience with “Take me Home Country Roads” in a very fitting conclusion to this important occasion.

The Term 2 sport training schedule has now been shared on the ATC app on the relevant sport pages. It is a complete re-jig of what has been planned and we thank all boys, coaches and families for their patience with it and understanding during this time. We look forward to getting stuck into sport again from Wednesday 20 April. Remember, Tuesday is a Pupil Free Day.

Rugby Club Opportunities

Our friends at Kenmore Bears, Wests and UQ Junior Rugby Clubs are looking from players (primarily in U10 – U12) to complete their teams. Their games are played on a Sunday and the seasons start after the Easter break. There would be no clash with ATC school sport. The links to their respective club pages are on the ATC App, and should you have any questions, please contact the Club directly.
