Coming Up in Week 6 Term 3

From tonight over 300 ATC performers will be singing, ringing and playing instruments at the Queensland Catholic Colleges Music Festival at Villanova College. QCMF is the single-largest festival of its kind in the Asia-Pacific Region – Best of luck to our highly talented musicians and congratulations for all of the hard work you have done in preparation for this signature event. I would ask all parents with sons travelling to QCMF tomorrow, Friday, to confirm their travel arrangements for the end of the day with Natalie Scalia via email.

Year Level Masses

Year 8 Mass – Friday 12 August 9.15am
Year 9 Mass – Friday 19 August 9.15am
Year 8 and 9 students are expected to wear their full formal uniform to their mass. There will be a shared Morning Tea for parents afterwards. If all attending parents could please bring a plate, a wonderful sense of community can be established. Students will begin the day with the normal whole school assembly and then Homeroom. Following the Mass and shared morning tea, the boys will continue with normal classes for the remainder of the day. We look forward to seeing our Year 8 and 9 parents over the coming two Fridays.

Kokoda Day Memorial Year 8

An opportunity has arisen for our Year 8 gentlemen to link with the greater community by participating in a Kokoda Day Memorial Service which is to be held at 11am on Sunday 14 August at the Kokoda Stone, located at the Croll Memorial Precinct at 2 Clewley Street, Corinda. For full details, please refer to the email sent to Year 8 families yesterday. If you have any queries please email Mrs Michelle Pearl

As advised by email, the College has received the individual NAPLAN testing results for your son and has sent these via post on Tuesday 9 August 2016. The NAPLAN tests represent a point in time result, in spelling, grammar and punctuation, reading, writing and numeracy. It is important when you read these results that you consider where your son is, both in relation to the state average and in relation to his previous level of achievement (for students in Years 7 and 9). The result report issued by the testing authority, will give you information on how to interpret your son’s achievement relative to the state average

Year 9 & 10, 2017 Subject Selection Pathway Evenings

The PowerPoint presentations for the Year 9 & 10, 2017 Subject Selection and Pathways Evenings held last week can be found in the Documents tab of the Parent Portal for any parents who were unable to attend. Parents may review their son’s selections by logging onto the link included in the email sent to each student.

Mt Sion Reading Hour – POSTPONED

The Mount Sion Reading Hour scheduled for Tuesday 16 August 7 – 8pm at Mount Sion iCentre has been postponed.
Our reading hour will include a Storytime as well as a chance to explore our library and read with your son. A light supper will be served. For more information please contact Mrs Peters. ATC Library.

Updating Contact Details

A reminder to all parents that if your contact details change, as well as contacting the College, you must also email to update your details in the P&F managed ‘Parent Directory’. This is very important as any communication from the P&F and your Year level Liaison Parent will use the details from this directory only.

Lost property

Please check the lost property if your son is missing any item. There is a significant amount of gear in Student Reception, some ATC uniforms and some non-uniform items including hoodies, shorts, shoes, caps and lunchboxes. Please collect your items before the end of Term 3.
