Coming Up in Week 10 Term 3

As with all our Cocurricular activities, the dedication and commitment comes not only from the students involved but also the staff who coordinate and manage the performances and events. Our newly formed Liturgy Band performed at the Community Mass on Saturday afternoon and today many musical and vocal ensembles were on show at Orientation Day.

I thank our parents for having their sons so well presented for these occasions and I thank the members of all ensembles and choirs for their commitment as well as the staff for making our Cultural Program the success that it is.

Over the last few weeks our Year 6 boys have been learning about the charity Street Swags. This has meant investigating the good work they do with the homeless around Australia. Street Swags provide basic bed rolls or ‘swags’ for those sleeping rough and toiletry bags for hygiene. Each year Street Swags hold an annual fundraiser called Swagtember which they rely heavily on for funding to continue their good work.

We have set the goal of raising $1500 this year. The boys have made an impressive start and have been busily working on coming up with creative ways to get donations. So far we have managed to raise almost a third of our goal thanks to the generosity of our wonderful community. If you would like to support us, please head to the website to make a donation. Please email Dave Sullivan for further information.

Year 8 Retreat
The Year 8 Retreat to be held on 14 October 2016 will have a focus on the ‘Power of Relationships’ and why family and friends are the most important people in our lives. For this day to have maximum impact on the boys’ journey from ‘boyhood to manhood’, we need your support. Please email Matt Warr, Assistant Dean of Formation, Friday 9 September if you are able to assist as a volunteer on the day. Please refer to email sent to families last week for further information.

Henry Gardiner Prayer Service
All welcome to the Wednesday morning prayer service for Henry Gardiner (Year 5) and his family to be held each week at 8am in the Chapel until the end of Term 3. You are also reminded to book your tickets for the fundraising dinner to assist the Gardiner family with medical expenses. Please see the attached flyer for full details.

Updating Contact Details
A reminder to all parents that if your contact details change, as well as contacting the College, you must also email Contact to update your details in the P&F managed ‘Parent Directory’.

Recently our wonderful Tuckshop Convenor, Danielle Milne, facilitated a Tuckshop Volunteers Evening in the NJC Hall. It was a fantastic initiative to acknowledge those mothers who continue to serve our community with humility and selflessness. Our staff and students benefit from their kind support which nurtures a wider culture of Service at the College. Thank you to all those who give of themselves for our community as we continue to benefit from this goodwill and compassion.

Tuckshop Volunteers – Help Required
Paddy’s Place is in need of extra volunteers, in particular on 9 September and 25 November. Parents please make a note that both tuckshops will be closed on FRIDAY 16 SEPTEMBER (last day of term) for pack up and clean.
