The students were also asked to stop for one minute at 11am. Even though this time fell during their break time, the response from the students was excellent and extremely respectful across the ovals and playground.
With this week down, there’s only two to go and people sometimes ask are we winding down. With so much still to do this year, coupled with planning for 2022, makes this a very busy time. For our students the message is simply, finish well. We spoke at College Assembly this week about being disciplined to finish well. Uniform, grooming, punctuality, focus on work, being aware of their assessment schedule, and dedicating extra time are vital components to finish well.
This week saw the last of our Music performances. The Summer Co-curricular Music Evening and the Junior Band Breakfast Concert rounded out an amazing month of live performances. The smiles on the musicians‘’ faces told the story of how much fun it was to be able to perform on the stage. Congratulations to Mr Bolt and his amazing team for providing such a rich series of opportunities.

Year 4 Milk Bottle Regatta
One of the highlights for the boys next term will be the annual “Year 4 Milk Bottle Raft Regatta.” This will be held on Thursday 25 November, the last week of Term 4. Students will work in teams to construct rafts out of plastic milk bottles and race on them in the Pool. More details will be provided early next term. To prepare for this we ask that you and your son begin to collect plastic milk bottles (1, 2 and 3L), wash them and store them in garbage bags at home. The bottles are to be brought to school in the week beginning Monday 22 November so construction can begin in preparation for the Regatta. On average, each student should bring in 15 milk bottles and two rolls of packing tape.
Laptop Audits Years 7-11
At the end of Term 4 students in Years 7-11 are required to return their laptops for the annual audit and maintenance of the machines. During the next few weeks, an audit will be completed during home room to identify parts that need to be ordered to complete repairs at the end of Term 4. Damage of IT equipment (intentional or accidental) will incur a repair bill for the family. Devices are covered by Accidental Damage Protection (ADP) for a limited number of parts per claim with an excess of $70. Once the claim limit has been exceeded, an additional repair cost will be incurred. Please refer to the ATC Acceptable Technology Use Policy on the SEQTA Engage, Documents section for further details. Parents will be notified if a student’s laptop is identified during the initial audit as requiring a repair at the end of the year. Year 11 - Laptops will be able to be picked up on the last day of school after handing them in for repair, once boys have completed their final exams. Year 4 – 10 - Laptops will be returned to all students in Week 1, 2022.
Year 12 Laptop Purchase Option
A reminder that all Year 12s must return their laptop and charger to the IT Department for an audit as soon as their last exam is over. As part of the College 1:1 Laptop Program, each student was given a College laptop at the beginning of Year 10 for the Senior School three‐year cycle. It is important that Year 12 students back up any files on their laptop that they wish to keep to a USB or external hard drive. After auditing the current laptops and the needs for 2022, a decision has been made to offer the 2021 Seniors the opportunity to purchase their College laptops. After consultation with our IT partners, ATC has been offered $320 for each of the devices. If a family wishes to purchase the College laptop, they will need to pay the market rate of $320 via Parent Lounge, under Events and Payments. Purchase of the laptop must be completed by COB Tuesday 26 November 2021 and will be returned in the same physical condition as they were handed in. Laptops will be available for collection from the IT Office from Monday 6 December 2021.

YEAR 6 TRANSITION RETREAT
The Year 6 Transition Retreat is being held on Wednesday 24 November at ATC. There will be three key components to the retreat: storytelling and sharing, affirmation and appreciation and preparation. The Retreat is facilitated by the Head of Junior School- Formation and Administration Junior School, Year level coordinator and Class Teachers. A sausage sizzle and drink will be provided for lunch.
Boys are asked to print out and bring with them on the day a collection of 5 photos that represent different stages of their life. These can be photos prior to year 4 and/or year 4 to year 6. Year 4 Dance – Celebration of Excellence
A significant annual College event, the ‘Celebration of Excellence’, is being held on Tuesday 16 November at Riverlife from 5.30pm. The Year 4 cohort have been invited to perform a choreographed dance routine. It will be an exciting night for all Year 4 boys as they perform on stage in front of a large audience. The dance routines are coming along very well! To add to the spectacle of their performance at Celebration of Excellence on Tuesday 16 November, all boys are to wear denim jeans and the following plain coloured t-shirt. Bodkin – Green shirt/Denim Jeans; 4 Nolan – Yellow shirt/Denim Jeans; 4 Treacy – White shirt/Denim Jeans.
A number of students travel to school via Indooroopilly Railway Station. It is important that students exit the station on the eastern side and walk/ride along the river boardwalk. Some students are not travelling this way and hence are putting their safety at risk by walking across a very busy four-way intersection. Other students are riding hire scooters part way to school and then leaving the scooters on the road. I invite parents to have a discussion with their son regarding road safety if they are travelling via any of these modes of transport.
FAITH & MISSION NEWS
As we head into the Christmas season, we are reminded of the joy and wonderous reasons we come together with family and friends. Christmas can also be a difficult time for many who are without these connections and seek support from services such as ECM. Our College has always been a community that shows care and compassion through word and through actions. This year is no different and we ask you to support the Christmas Appeal for Emmanuel City Mission. Of all the things that we might be able to give, what ECM need most is Long Life Milk and Toilet Paper. Mr Warr and Mr McCrohon have challenged our students to bring in as many donations as possible so that we can take over the Faith and Mission Office and build a Donation Castle. Junior School students can deliver their donations to their homeroom teacher, Middle and Senior School students are to bring their donations to the Faith and Mission Office.
Year 12 Reflection Day
The Year 12 Reflection Day is being held Wednesday 17 November at Sherwood AFC as part of the final week at the College for our Seniors. Please see a letter from Matt Warr, Dean of Faith and Mission, on the College App, outlining the details and importance of the day.
As you know, our Co-curricular staff are enthusiastic about providing supervision support for your son/s during the allocated activity time. We would appreciate your support of our programs by ensuring that students are collected on time so that supervising staff can get home to their families. Students who are not picked up at their allocated times will need to be collected from the College reception. Thank you in advance for your support on this matter.

P & F NEWS
ATC Staff Christmas Lunch – a message from Benjamin Prain P&F President
We have an incredibly talented and dedicated staff at ATC – this includes teachers, administration staff, ground staff, classroom school officers, music teachers and sport coaches. With the end of the year and the spirit of Christmas approaching, we are aware that some families are considering the idea of a gift for staff at ATC. The College and the P&F would like to emphasise the way for saying ‘thank you’ to ATC staff at the end of the school year is by donating to the annual Staff Christmas Lunch which is coordinated by the ATC P&F. It is a very special day for all staff and one which is looked forward to with great anticipation every year. Families can go to Parent Lounge to make a donation to assist with catering costs. This will be a great way to celebrate the end of a monumental year and with your help, we look forward to making it a very special day for ATC staff. We remind parents that contributions are entirely voluntary. Please see the College App for further details.
Volunteers for Lunch
The annual P&F Staff Christmas Lunch is being held on Thursday 2 December at the NJ Hall. The P&F need helpers on the day to set up, serve food and clean up. If you can assist for a shift between 10.30am and 4pm, please CLICK HERE to sign up.
It was a full house for the Annual P&F Trivia Night on Saturday. After a break in 2020 for COVID, the crowd went “Back in Time” for the 2021 Event. What a fabulous night! The “Cave People” took home the Trivia Trophy while the “Last Table on the Titanic” narrowly took out the honours for table dressing over the “Moon Landing”. Many thanks to our very generous sponsors who donated some great prizes. Thanks also to our Trivia Master (Christian), and to the P&F volunteers who assisted on the night.
