Coming Up for the Start of the School Year

Welcome to the new school year. We certainly live in interesting times. I hope your family has been able to have some quality time together over the Christmas/New Year time. One key learning we all have from these times is the certainty of the importance of relationships.

Staff have started working this week in preparation for online learning and the beginning of classes. Our twin focus will be on the learning aspect of the College plus the focus on people. Care and concern for all members of our community will continue to take high importance. I encourage you to take the time to read all the communications coming from the College and to ask questions of the relevant staff whenever necessary. Please contact your son’s Formation Leader for additional support.

Learning at Home

Online learning will commence for Years 4 to 12 from Monday 31 January. Students will be expected to follow their SEQTA timetable, wear ATC Day shirt, PE shirt or House shirt, and have appropriate hair and grooming for being ‘at school’. To join the class, students will need to be aware of their timetable and join the TEAMS meeting when invited by their teacher.

Laptops

To enable online learning, it is essential that every student has his College laptop. Most students have collected their laptop this week. Monday 24 and Tuesday 25 are two additional days that laptops can be collected from Nudgee Junior Hall between 8.30am and 3.00pm. If you have any IT questions, CLICK HERE to email the Service Desk.

Orientation

Year 4 and Year 7 are our two main entry points into the College. To best support these cohorts, an Orientation Program will be conducted online Thursday 27 and Friday 28 January. This program will also cover new students in other year levels. More specific details will be sent to the respective families.

Textbooks

In supporting students, ATC utilises hard copy textbooks and digital textbooks. As learning will be done on-line for the week beginning 31 January, we will focus on the on-line textbooks. Specific digital textbooks have been uploaded to the students’ laptops for them to access each textbook they will need. Hard copy textbooks will be distributed when the students return to campus.

2022 Timetables

The 2022 student timetables have been uploaded onto SEQTA and emailed to the students. The timetables are linked to the individual student and hence are sent to the student school email account. Parents and caregivers can log onto SEQTA or to their son’s email account to see the timetable.

Homerooms

To see your son’s Homeroom and Teacher’s name, log into SEQTA and click on Parent Portal/My Student.

Bell Times

See the link below to the 2022 Bell Times for reference when learning from home.

Term Dates

There has been some uncertainty about Education Queensland Term dates. Our 2022 Term Dates have not changed for 2022, apart from the delayed commencement to Term One.

Masks

As we are an integrated Year 4 to 12 campus, when school returns to onsite, we ask that all students (other than those with medical exemptions) have their own supply of clean and suitable masks. Students who forget their mask may purchase one at Paddy’s Place or the Bakehouse Tuckshops prior to the start of the school day using the Student ID Card for $1.00. We would ask that students remember to bring masks from home.

Absentee during Learns@Home

Absentee Procedure Between Monday 31 January and Friday 4 February, we will require normal absentee processes to be followed please. If your son is not participating in online learning for a part of a day, day or longer, please notify us as we will be taking rolls as normal. If a student is going to be late or absent for any reason parents and caregivers are required to inform us via the College App Absentee tile, or by email absent@atc.qld.edu.au or telephone 0738780521 before 9.00am on the morning of the absence.

Start Dates 2022

FORMATION NEWS

2022 ATC Uniform Policy and Guidelines – UPDATE

The ATC Uniform is a unifying influence for the College community and is a valuable part of a young man’s education to learn to present himself in a neat and appropriate manner. We are pleased to introduce two new items of clothing to the ATC Uniform in 2022:

1. The ATC Hoodie is for weekend and co-curricular activities in the cooler months such as Term 2 and Term 3. It is NOT a part of the Monday to Friday uniform and is not be worn during school time. It has been designed to wear on Saturdays for rounds of sport at the College and when playing at other schools. While it is not compulsory, there is an expectation that non ATC jumpers and hoodies are not to be worn at either home or away games. The College tracksuit will remain as another option.

2. The College Training T-shirt is for sport training sessions before or after school only. It is made of a lightweight material suitable for a range of training contexts. It is NOT a part of the Monday to Friday uniform and is not be worn during school time. The ATC Sport Polo Shirt is to be worn on PE days.

Please follow the links to view the updated ATC UNIFORM GUIDE and ATC UNIFORM POLICY.

FAITH & MISSION NEWS

Claddagh Retreat

A significant ritual for the Year 12 cohort is the Claddagh Retreat. In an effort to reschedule the retreat to avoid uncertainty surrounding the peak time of the pandemic, we are seeking responses from parents about their son’s availability for the new date. These dates have been chosen to avoid clashes with Senior curriculum requirements, co-curricular activities and venue availability. Parents are asked to urgently indicate if their son will be available from Monday 20 June to Wednesday 22 June 2022. This is the Pupil Free Week at the conclusion of Term 2. The College is aware that these dates may also impact on planned family holiday activities but strongly believes the benefits of the retreat program make it a vital rite of passage for your sons. To confirm your son’s attendance at the Claddagh Retreat from Monday 20 – Wednesday 22 June 2022 please use the link on the College App.

Opening Mass

The 2022 ATC Opening Mass and Year 12 Investiture will be held at Riverlife Auditorium Seventeen Mile Rocks on Tuesday 8 February at 12:00pm. The Mass will only be for Year 12 students and their families. Year 12 Parents and Caregivers play an important role in Commissioning ceremony. Due to restrictions, only two caregivers are permitted to attend and will be allocated seating in the auditorium with their son. The RSVP form is available on the College App. All other year levels will take part in an Opening Liturgy online on Friday 11 February during College Assembly time.
