ATC Hits the Water

Our main focus at ATC Swimming is on personal improvement. Our swimming meets are the ideal place to test our swimmers and see what gains have been made from the weeks training sessions. Our Club nights are an introduction to the processes of racing in a format that allows swimmers to be relaxed and swim without competitive pressure. Our summer season club nights will be back in full swing tonight after a couple of weather related cancellations.

The ATC swimming club is like a big family. On club nights a BBQ is in full swing so everyone can have dinner and enjoy socialising while the kids are in the pool. This ethos compliments the ATC friend-raising philosophy where all our events are focussed on family and community. Our upcoming Club Meets on 9 and 16 November will provide valuable competition time for our swimmers who will gather at Dunlop Park on 18 November and in the lead up to State Titles.

Last weekend 13 swimmers in the 12 years and over age group competed in the Long Course preparation meet at Chandler. Most boys swam well but a number were disappointed with their performance and have been inspired to train harder and focus on achieving their goals. Zac McArdle was named ‘Swimmer of Squad’ for his determination and performance in the pool. This competition leads to the State Titles to be held on 9 December and we hope to see great results and personal bests times smashed.

See you around the pool.

Paul Jones, Head of Aquatics.
