What's Coming up in Term 3

It was a great spectacle on Wednesday with the ATC young men spread across the College ovals participating in the Annual Inter-house Athletics carnival. Like many events, ATC modifies the conventional format to best suit our community.

In addition to the usual 100m, long jump, hurdles and shot put, the boys participated in dodgeball, obstacle races, tug-a -war and vortex. Well done to Mr Capra and his team on a wonderful day.

The semester reporting process will be completed by Thursday 28 June. All students’ reports will be available on SEQTA engage. Please access your son’s report and talk to him about the successes and areas that he may need to work on.

All ATC families were emailed information regarding a new feature of the ATC Parent Lounge. This new feature will allow you to check your contact details and also share your details with the ATC Community. Please read the attached letter for full details.

Service is one of the three pillars of ATC. Last night Year 7 boys, and a number of staff, were involved in a Service Expo. Boys volunteered their time and effort across 11 local communities to learn, and to provide a connection with other communities. I congratulate Mr Sullivan and his team for organising such a positive experience for the Year 7 boys. Many other opportunities are coming up. Details are included below outlining an invitation to Year 8 boys to be involved in a community sleep out. The Winter Working Bee is on Sunday 15 July. This is a wonderful opportunity for the whole family to be involved in the Service program and make a difference.

I wish to thank the ATC staff who have put in an incredible amount of effort and time this semester to provide the very best support for the students. Congratulations to the boys for such a big commitment this semester. With so many activities in and out of the classroom everyone is ready for a good break. All the best for a fun and safe holiday.

Year 7, 2019 Parent Information Evening “Learning in the Middle School at ATC

The change from the Junior School to the Middle School is a significant step for students. Our experience to-date at Ambrose Treacy College has been that the key to a successful transition is to ensure that students and parents are well prepared for this move both in terms of the physical changes and the social dynamics that will accompany this change. We conduct a comprehensive induction program for families to support this transition.
To assist parents with a better understanding of what these changes will be for their sons with regards to their learning, we have decided to hold another information evening on Tuesday 21 August 2018, commencing at 6.30pm. This will be a parent only information session and the focus of the evening will be “Learning in the Middle School at ATC.”

Please refer to Mike Senior’s letter available on the College App for detailed information, including a link to RSVP.

Nationally Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD)

The Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD) is a joint state and federal government initiative. The data collection is an annual national count of the number of students provided with educational adjustments as a result of their disability as defined broadly under the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (DDA). This will provide Australian schools, parents, education authorities, and the community with information about the number of students with disabilities in schools, where they are located and the adjustments they receive.
An information sheet is available from the website below for parents of students with disabilities.
Please read this information carefully before making the decision to opt out of the data collection. (NB. The NCCD involves collection of numbers only, no names are submitted.)
