Providing opportunities for boys to engage with reading for pleasure is incredibly important for literacy development and overall academic achievement. Having access to well-resourced libraries in our school means that we are able to help bridge the gender literacy gap, and our collection is developed with the wide interests of boys in mind.
Mt Sion iCentre is located in the heart of the Junior School. Our vast collection of resources is specifically curated for boys aged 9 to 13 years. Boys attend weekly library lessons with a qualified Teacher Librarian, where they develop information literacy and academic research skills as well as professional guidance when borrowing. Mt Sion iCentre is host to many programs and special events that take place throughout the year, including reading-incentive initiatives, competitions, author visits and workshops. We aim to get every boy reading for pleasure and develop a life-long love of literature. We have a book for every boy!
Westcourt is our beautiful Senior iCentre, where students and teachers can enjoy the benefits that come from a library that is valued and well-resourced. The Senior library is an inclusive and welcoming environment, staffed by passionate professionals who are always available to help students achieve their best and develop into well-rounded citizens. Students can borrow from an up-to-date collection of high-quality and popular titles, utilise first-rate electronic research resources for assignments, relax in our riverside surrounds, participate in Book Clubs and receive homework and study help in the afternoons.
