Year 4 Chefs Measure Up

Cooking Club 2016

Cooking Club officially started today with a large group of enthusiastic chefs gathering in the Mt.Sion kitchen. Boys from the Junior School are learning new skill. The Cooking Club members will produce some extraordinary dishes this term as the boys meet each Thursday afternoon for 1 ½ hours. The club is open to any Year 4 student who had a passion for cooking. Each week the boys will make a dish that they can take home to share with their family for dinner, dessert or as a lunchbox snack. Some of the recipes will be: chocolate balls, cookies, lemon cheesecakes, mini pizzas, dips and mini Santa Hats – just to name a few.

By the end of the Cooking Club the boys will master their cutting, slicing, measuring techniques, mixing and stirring. Their mathematical abilities will be tested as they measure and convert ingredients. The boys are learning every week whilst having a wonderful time cooking with their mates! The look of pride is priceless when they complete their dish and being able to share this with their family gives them a real sense of accomplishment.
