Week 5 Term 2 Performing Arts News

The Saxophone Ensemble will perform at this Friday's assembly.

Each week at assembly we are entertained by a group of talented musicians. This Friday 13 May the Saxophone Ensemble will be performing at Assembly. All parents are welcome to attend. Ensemble members please be at school by 8am to set up and have a quick look over the pieces. You are required to wear your normal Friday uniform.

Rehearsals

Junior Choir Rehearsals
Please note that we only have two more rehearsals until our performance in the Qld Youth Music Awards. We are performing “We Sail the Ocean Blue” and “Amazing Grace – My Chains are Gone – See you Again” Please practise these over and over before our next rehearsal. Miss Thompson

Concert Band rehearsals
Miss Tubb has some new music coming your way this week. Ghostbusters are heading to ATC. WE do hope you all remembered to be at rehearsal today at 7 am.

Big Band rehearsals
We are working hard to prepare our 30 minute set and to get ready for our gigs in Sydney as part of the World Projects Australasian Festival in July. Please focus on Cut to the Chase; Yardbird Suite and Act Your Age this weekend in readiness for rehearsal. Big Band rehearsal is going to finish at 5.15 pm next Tuesday 17 May in preparation for our Gig at the Jazz Club. Afternoon Tea will be provided.

Sydney Tour Information
There will be an updated itinerary sent out at the end of this week. But here is a taste of the Festival through the World Projects website. Tickets for the Opera House performance on Wednesday evening 6 July are NOT available yet. You will be notified the minute they are on sale. Other performances while in Sydney at the World Projects Music Festival are all FREE so everyone can come along and watch our Touring Bands.

Big Band Festival
Big Band Performance at Jazz Club – See Performing Arts Events Tab for more details and booking information:
On Saturday 21 May our Big Band is performing at the Brisbane Jazz Club at Kangaroo Point. Band members must arrive by 12.15pm. Seating in the venue is not allocated, so the earlier the better for families to get a good seat. Please come along and support this great band. The ATC performance is 3.15 pm to 3.45pm so please come along and support our talented band. See the downloadable link below for further details.

Mentors Morning
Saturday 21 May Morning School Special with Mentors and Patrons John Morrison & Jacki Cooper
Open 11.30am – 4.30pm Andrew Montfroy’s School Band, St Laurence’s College Big Band, Stretton State College Big Band, ATC Big Band, St Peters Lutheran College Senior Stage Band. Light Refreshments available

Handbell Performance
The Youth Handbell Workshop and Concert is on Saturday 28 May at Coorparoo Secondary College (12pm to 5pm).
An information letter has been sent home and you can follow this link to pay for the workshop and concert. Workshop Registrants cost (includes workshops, sausage sizzle and concert entry) is $20. Concert tickets are also sold at the door ($15 adults, $10 Concessions and children). We would love to see parents and family members at the Concert to watch some extra-amazing handbell ensembles.

This is a more detailed outline of the day:
12pm – 12.30 (registration),
12.30pm – 2.45 (workshops),
2.45pm – 3.15pm (sausage sizzle),
4pm – 5pm (concert).

Brigidine Musical
This year Brigidine College, with assistance from Marist College Ashgrove and Ambrose Treacy College will be producing ‘Bring It On’ The Musical. The production will be staged in the Schonell Theatre at the University of Queensland on Friday 15 July at 7pm and Saturday 16 July at 2:00pm and 6.30pm.

Bring It On The Musical is an explosive musical comedy based on the hit film of the same name. It is a theatre production that truly dazzles with an incredible spectacle of high-energy, witty dialogue, zingily clever songs and inventive visuals. Tickets are $26 for Adults, $16 for students. Cultural Support Group Coffee
Please come along for a coffee and informal chat about upcoming events on Thursday 26 May at 10 am at Simon’s Gourmet Gallery. Please let Mrs Scalia know if you are able to attend.
Winter Concert on 2 June – Sausage Sizzle and Bar operating and help needed for both please.
