P&F News and Events Week 9

Students and siblings enjoyed the face-painting at the Year 4 Nolan get-together

It is wonderful to see both small and large events taking place uniting our wonderful ATC community. Last Saturday, Year 4 Nolan families enjoyed a casual get-together at The Gap Tavern. Despite the torrential rain, parents appreciated a glass of wine and dinner whilst kids enjoyed face painting. Thanks to Dana Lutat for organising and to those families who were able to join us. From Boys Day Out to parent gatherings and Trivia mania there is plenty of opportunity to feel part of our friendly community. The trivia season is upon us – read on to see how you can prove your “Trivia Know-How” to the wider school community………

Trivia Competition

OK Trivia Buffs/ brainy people/ try-hards – in the lead up to the epic battle that will ensue at the ATC Trivia Night 2016 on Saturday 30 July, we will be holding a little pre-trivia competition where each week we will publish 3 trivia questions (in the P&C section of the ATC blog). The first person to respond by e-mail with the correct answers to all 3 questions will receive recognition and a small prize at the Trivia Night as the “Winner of the Week”.

The person who wins the most weeks in the lead up to the event, will be declared at the “ATC Pre-trivia Contest Winner and Overall Greatest Legend of all Time” and will be given much praise, love and attention (and possibly a prize).

Week 1 questions:

1. The Magna Carta was published by the King of which Country?
2. Who developed the first successful printing press?
3. Who said – “If you can’t fly then run, if you can’t run then walk, if you can’t walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward.”

Answers should be speedily e-mailed to trazee27@gmail.com
with your name (and team details if you have them already). The first person in with all 3 correct answers will receive a reply e-mail, and hearty congratulations. The winners name will also be published in ATConnect the following week (to incite great jealousy, admiration and to stir up the competition).

After you have answered this week’s questions, go immediately back to your planning for the big event!!

The theme is “The Greatest Moment in History” – and you will need to start planning your table of 10 people asap. Tickets are on sale NOW through Trybooking

AFL Boys’ Day Out

For the lucky ones that have booked tickets to the AFL Boys Day Out, we are meeting at the East Brisbane State School (corner of Wellington & Vulture Streets) undercover eating area this Saturday at 3pm. We will hand out the Gabba tickets, commemorative ATC hat and enjoy some pizza and drinks before heading up to the stadium as a group. Any questions, please contact Scott via email s.kielchisholm@qut.edu.au

P&F Meeting

On Tuesday night the P&F gathered for our monthly meeting. Positive feedback was provided regarding the rain/shade shelters that the P&F collaborated with the school to purchase. Also discussions around up and coming opportunities for the ATC community. Mike Senior let us know about the building funding progress and staffing needs for 2017. We also acknowledged how well the sports canteen is now working and the assistance for setting up and packing up for home games. Thank you to the P&F committee and wider parent body for your continued assistance in making these things possible. The next P&F meeting is on July 12 at 6:30pm in the staff room – ALL WELCOME.

Soccer Boys Day Out

As the school soccer season comes to an end, what better way to embrace the improved skills of our boys then to gather for a Soccer Boys Day Out and watch the Brisbane Roar at their best. We are looking for a soccer enthusiast to bring this event together. Please email pandf@atc.qld.edu.au if you would like to take on this great role.
