It was great to have the opportunity to get out to Brigidine College on Friday afternoon and watch our Year 6 boys take on St Peters in Basketball. The development of the boys across the past 5 weeks has been great, seeing the enthusiasm when they score and the passion when they sing the College war cry is something special.
Congratulations to Mr Moffat, Mr Manikot and all the boys who represented ATC at the Logan Sevens competition on Friday. The boys managed to take out the Under 13’s competition and return to school with the championship flag. Terrific effort coming off of a long Rugby season and minimal Sevens preparation. This gives us a great springboard into the upcoming Sevens competition starting in Term 4 on Friday nights.
On Monday night Ms Webb and I had the pleasure of attending the AFLBJ Gala Dinner. This dinner celebrates the best and fairest winners for each age group as well as the work done off field by volunteers and officials. ATC were lucky enough to have two students invited to attend, Josh Vacher who plays for the ATC U14 side as well as Joshua Lane who is currently playing for the Jindalee Jaguars. Both players had outstanding years for their respective sides culminating in second place finishes in each of their counts. Congratulations to both boys, Josh V will continue his season this weekend as the ATC U14 side play in a preliminary final against Park Ridge. Joshua Lane had a great game in the ATC jersey on Wednesday as the ATC Middle School side took on Ormiston in the qualifying final of the AFL School’s Cup.
As I mentioned last week there are several sports entering their pre-seasons in particular Cricket, Water Polo, Triathlon and Tennis. Please make sure you are attending training, giving it your best and importantly having fun.

Middle School Team – Our ATC Middle School team headed to Yeronga yesterday to take Ormiston College in a Qualifying Final. Unfortunately, inaccurate kicking cost us the game and we were defeated by 8 points.
Junior School Team – Our ATC Junior School team will play in the Preliminary Final on September 14. We wish the boys all the best as a win will see them play in the Grand Final.

Cost per player for the Water Polo season is $108.
Triathlon and Aquathlon
We are on our way into the new Triathlon season with 3 weeks of solid training completed. This year it’s been great to see the huge growth in squad numbers with over 40 boys already attending Triathlon training sessions.
Our training sessions are running each Monday and Wednesday mornings from 6am – 8am at the ATC pool. The boys are training together in 2 groups; a Year 4 & 5 group and a Year 6 and older group. We are mixing and matching run, bike and transition training and as a reminder please make sure that the boys bring their swim and run gear to all sessions. Year 4 & 5 boys only need to bring their bikes on Wednesday while Year 6 and older boys need to bring their bikes on Mondays and Wednesdays.
In Squad news, last week-end saw Mitch Densley and Robert Stringer attend the Triathlon Queensland Development Program Time Trial. Both did themselves and the squad proud. Mitch was successful and selected into the TQ Emerging Talent Squad. Congratulations Mitch.
ATC Triathlon Suit Orders
For those who have already ordered, we expect the first delivery to be arriving over the next 1-2 weeks. Cricket Report Week 8, Term 3
Pre-season skills training has commenced with good numbers attending Monday afternoons (current Year 3 boys), Wednesday afternoons (Year 4-9 boys currently at other schools) and Friday mornings (current ATC Year 4-9 boys). Term 4 cricket is open to all boys, regardless of experience or ability, and every boy who wishes to play cricket will be placed in a team. This is an opportunity for boys to play with their mates in a participation model within a competitive environment. It is a rewarding and enjoyable experience for all.
Registration is now open via the play-cricket website for boys playing Term 4 junior club cricket Brisbane North fixtures. Parents of boys involved in this cricket pathway have been contacted by email and are urged to complete registration by Wednesday 7 September 2016. Boys undertaking the Development Program are not required to register in this manner. Boys required to attend Grading Day this Saturday have been advised of their time by email. Many boys are not required on Grading Day. No email = no attendance required.
Cricket Coaching Clinics will be held on campus exclusively for 2016 and 2017 ATC students 19-22 September 2016 inclusive and 26-29 September 2016 inclusive to assist players prepare for the season. These Clinics will set the foundation for play in the Term 4 season and concentrate on building individual and team skills whilst having fun and enjoying the game. Bookings must be made for boys to attend either or both Clinics as numbers are limited (less than 30 places remain across all age groups at both Clinics). Every effort will be made to place boys with potential teammates to implement protocols and strategies. The fourteen hours of coaching and practice at one of these Clinics is greater than the entire time available for team training sessions during Term 4 and attendance is worth considering if you are able (there is a financial and time commitment necessary and thus will not suit everyone). Bookings and enquiries should be directed to email@example.com
Whilst our Term 4 cricket season does not commence until early October, the timetable below lists some important information.
3:30pm-4:45pm Monday afternoons – Pre-season training for all boys currently at other schools in Year 3

Rugby Report Week 8 Term 3
The Show rolls on!!!!!
With the fifteen aside format finished our focus now shifts to Rugby Sevens. Training has begun this week in preparation for our Term 4 Sevens competition. We are also working away to provide the whole ATC community an opportunity to be involved with this juggernaut of a sport, parents, friends, students, and staff are invited to participate in a non-contact version called VIVA 7’s. Keep an eye out for more information.
Under 13 QRU Logan Sevens Champions
Congratulations to the Under 13 boys who competed in the QRU Logan Sevens competition. Our boys were outstanding throughout the day, topping their pool averaging 40 points a game and not conceding any. We played St Francis College in the Grand Final in what was a tightly contested game although the score did not reflect this. We were crowned champion winning the Grand Final 38-0. Well done to all students and staff on a successful start to our Sevens season.
Sevens Holiday Clinic
In the coming school holidays, we will be running a Sevens Rugby clinic. This clinic is open to any students that wish to be a part of the Sevens program in Term 4. The clinic will be conducted on Jack Bowers oval in the second part of the school holidays run over three days.
Friday September 30 to Sunday October 2: 9am-11am. A flyer will be sent out this week.
We have had an amazing response to the Sevens program and I will be looking for coaches to assist. Are you available for games on Friday nights? If you are also available to attend a training session during the week that would be a bonus. If you are interested in looking after a Sevens team, please send me an email.
Sports Presentation Evening
Wednesday 14 September is our Sport Presentation Evening; can you please place this date in your dairy. This is a night where we can celebrate the hard work the boys have put in throughout the season, I hope to see as many of you there as possible.
I am asking for your patience as I compile a list of those students that will be playing Rugby Sevens next term and begin to remove those students from my list that will not be playing. I understand there has been missed communication at times, please bear with me as I continue to update my files. Also I understand that some students will not be playing Sevens next term that played Rugby this term, I am in the process of removing these students from further correspondence. In the meantime, I apologise for any inconvenience.
