P&F News and Events Week 10

As we head towards a much needed break over the holidays, do not forget to get your teams together and book for the ATC Trivia Night 2016 on Saturday 30 July. The theme for your table and dress up is “The Greatest Moment in History” – and you will need to start planning your table of 10 people asap. Arranging a table for you class/ year level/ sports team/ boys’ friends’ parents etc is a great way to support the school and to get involved in the ATC community – so we encourage all of you to get on board!

Tickets are on sale NOW through Trybooking – $25 p.p. There will also be raffle tickets ($5 each or 3 for $10) available and great prizes raffled on the night. Tickets are on sale NOW through Trybooking and see the link to the flyer below for more info.
Cost: $25 p.p. There will also be raffle tickets ($5 each or 3 for $10) available and great prizes raffled on the night. BOOK NOW

If you don’t have a table of 10 yet – you can still book your tickets now – and we will allocate you to a table for your year level (just let us know on the booking form if you have a table/ year level preference). See flyer attached for details.

Also, last week was the start of our ‘pre-trivia’ weekly contest and I am very pleased to announce that our fabulous winner for week one was (drumroll please):
Shona Clayton (mother of Zac in 7T).

In record time, Shona provided the following correct answers to last week’s questions:
1. England
2. Gutenberg
3. Martin Luther King Jr.

Shona commented after her victory “I can’t tell you how delighted I am”. So people – if you get in fast with your answers this week – you too could be this happy!!!

Week 2 questions are:
1. Which city was the first to surpass 1 million inhabitants?
2. What ‘miracle’ of modern medicine was discovered in 1928?
3. Who invented the Ballpoint Pen?

Answers should be speedily e-mailed to trazee27@gmail.com with your name (and team details if you have them already). The first person in with all 3 correct answers will receive a reply e-mail, and hearty congratulations. The winners name will also be published in the ATC Blog the following week (to incite great jealousy, admiration and to stir up the competition).

The Trivia Night will be BYO food and drinks, glassware, cutlery, crockery, decorations etc. If you have any questions about the event please contact Michelle trazee27@gmail.com, Kylie spandy@iimetro.com.au or Dana dmlutat@gmail.com Happy planning and we will be in touch soon!!!

Middle School Parents and Carers “Drinks and nibbles”

Last Thursday evening a dedicated group of middle school parents met at Westcourt Riverdeck to socialise and enjoy the beautiful weather and ambience on the Brisbane River.
We started with a fantastic selection of cheeses, home-made dips and nibbles enjoyed with some lovely red and white wine, champagne and some cold Peronis.
It was a wonderful opportunity for parents, new and old to meet other middle school parents and enjoy the warm community that ATC offers.
A big thank you to the middle school coordinators, Kath Stephenson, Be Yeo-Bradshaw, Anda Bakker, Michelle Johnson, Sharon Ward, Prue Moloney and Sandy Nasagavesi for all their hard work in organising this function.
Stay tuned for more information about Middle School events scheduled for Term 3 and 4. We hope to see you at an event soon.

Lions supporters at the AFL Boys' Day Out

AFL Boys’ Day Out

What a great day out our inaugural ATC Boys Day Out AFL. We had 45 supporters cheering the Brisbane Lions on who unfortunately went down to the Fremantle Dockers. This didn’t dampen enthusiasm however with cheering, chatting and feasting on snacks. We were also able to have a kick on the Gabba after the players left the field. Our ATC caps were an absolute stand-out; our seats were behind the goals and we’ve told that those of you who saw the game on TV were able to pick our group out from the crowd. Our biggest thanks go out to Scott Kiel-Chisholm who arranged the outing and his band of trusty helpers – Loretta Davis, Andrea McAvoy, Fiona Kearney, Rhonnie Sparksman, Diana Taylor, Michelle Johnson and Sharon Ward from ATC, Rachel Moloney and Lachlan Harris from the Brisbane Lions and Lynne from the East Brisbane State School.

Football Boys Day Out

If you are interested in running a similar event for Football to watch the Brisbane Roar, we have all the details and contacts you need to make it a fun day out. Please email pandf@atc.qld.edu.au if you would like to take on this great role.
