Learning News Week 4 Term 3

On Tuesday 9 August as part of Ambrose Treacy Day we will ‘Celebrate Learning’ at ATC by hosting a program of activities in honour of Br Ambrose Treacy. The day promises to be fun-filled and engaging with boys being offered a variety of activities which we hope, will promote an enthusiasm for learning and a love of the discovery of new knowledge.

Activities which students may participate in include:
Year 4:
 Alternative Olympics
 Amazing Race
 Sum Dog
 Lokulus
Year 5:
 Mt Cootha Planetarium excursion ½ day
 Meteor Investigation at school
Year 6:
 Dissection of fish and crayfish
 Cooking with Costi & Co
 Leave your mark – Visual Arts
 Test Parachutes
 Recycled Materials Challenge
 Music Your School Your Way
 Homelessness
Year 8:
Geography Excursion all day
Year 7 & 9:
 Year 7 – Constructing breeding boxes for wildlife
 Year 7 – Discuss, make and test parachutes
 Year 7 – Mock Parliament
 Year 9 – Puzzle Masters
 Year 9 – Extracting DNA from strawberries & kiwi fruit
 Year 7 & 9 – Business – Monopoly
 Year 7 & 9 – Moneyball – using data science to draft the best team
 Year 7 & 9 – Projectile Design
 Year 7 & 9 – PE – Investigate the role that innovation and imagination has played in sport over the history of the Olympic Games
 Year 7 & 9 – Skills of the Modern Man
 Year 7 & 9 – Japanese Manga
 Year 7 & 9 – Music – Your School Your Way
 Year 7 & 9 – Leave your mark Visual Arts
 Year 7 & 9 – ATC TV – Be a Journalist for a Day
 Year 7 & 9 – Bush Tucker and Kup Murri

Uniform: All students are permitted to wear their sports uniform.
Food: Please note both tuckshops will be closed on this day, with the exception of breakfast which is available from Paddy’s Place. Students in Years 4, 5, 6, 7 and 9 should bring their own morning tea with a sausage sizzle and drink being provided at 2nd break.
